Problem is it has no brakes at all, no exhaust, and lights, towing isn't an option. This is what i was thinking of doing to it, its a bad picture but you'll get the idea.

If I can ever get it back home, I reckon around 6- 12 months or so, depending on finances and parts etc. Plenty of Harvey Frost cranes on ebay, but no doubt when I can afford one there won't be any available. I bought a cracking pair of seats of ebay for it, which cost me £1.20! Backs heeling up nicely now thanks, all the staples are gone and I can walk properly again now. I had 3 collasped discs, which were trapping my spinal cord, meaning i could hardly walk. I can now walk great, its just i tire out easily as i'm not used to walking anymore ;D Only downside is now the pains gone in my legs, i can feel all the pain in my back, which will be another op for a spine fusion at some point.

The anestatis, the bloke who knocks you out wrote it, just incase the surgeon had brain fade and decided to operate elsewhere I need to mock it up with the new seats and small steering wheel, if i can fit in comfortbly then it will stay as a pick up, if I can't I'll change it into a van. IIRC there isn't alot of room for a 17st bloke in the little cab

Welcome, great project and all that...... (ENVY, ENVY)
As a trained nurse, and guy with a knackered back and neck, who has seen guys screw up the results of a good operation by moving on too fast, I will say...... CAUTION !!
Enjoy getting yourself dirty once you get the all clear.
I think Pickup is great, but recovery is cool and will make for more conversation.

thats a nice pickup, I'm loving the recovery idea. anybody know there axle weight? hope your recovery goes well too

I'm not to bothered about the rear axle limit, it would be for show only. It would probably be OK with a small car or a rear engine'd motor, but not really practical though.

Its home ;D ;D. A mate rang me up today and i talked him into collecting it for me. The downside is, as I drove it up the entry the chassis collasped where all the rust was in the picture above Oh well, at least its an easy profile to repair.

Well I had a bit of a dismantling session today. Doors off, interior out, gearbox tunnel removed, and took the cab back out. After having had a good look around it, I declare it well and truly rotten. Just to repair the floors, sills and chassis, is going to cost around £600 in panels, thats without sorting out the inner wings and other rust. Guess its going to be a longer project than I thought! How it looks now.

Did some today. Binned the wings as they were cheap, crazed fibreglass ones. O/s inner wing isn't at all bad, n/s side needs complete replacement, look at the length of the MOT tester's chalk mark! Took the gearbox out from inside the cab, as I can't risk jacking it up due to the chassis rot. After it was out and I tidied up abit, I noticed the o/s gearbox crossmember had rotted out from the chassis rail. In the picture you can just see its dropped down by about 1/2 inch. The engines just sitting on the trolley jack ready to come out, but I'll need a hand to shift it. Then its just a case of dismantling the front suspension and unbolting and grinding the cab of the chassis. then the fun will begin.
