Well I just tried to sort out a kind of update....... but my foto-(f)ukwit is playin silly beggars. I'll sort out somewhere else and get a couple of pics loaded. Quick synopsis - nothing too much to see really, but basically the bottom 3-5inches of the car have been replaced almost all the way around - but the welding is improving (stop laughing OB ) OB saw the last of the previous garages attempts at 'repairs' leaving one wing 15-20mm out of alignment I am plodding on, so will sort out pics asap.Hopefully final wheelarch will be finished and seam sealer/schutz etc... will be done by end of week (now it's in writing I'm doomed ). Patience y'all John Give me a shout when you want the wing sorting out mate. I´ll bring over my anglegrinder for the weekend!

SO - after a LOAD of personal problems and legal wrangling taking up a shedload of my time (oh and moving house) I haven't been idle - just found FAR TOO MUCH of this and spent a lot of time looking like this using these (cereal boxes are your best friend) and learning FAST and tidying it up so I can live with it once covered in filler n paint then banging on with taking on the mess and having to drop the subframe again after finding the central floor section was fibreglassed in it finally started to take shape (kind of) and I tied the bits together so it went from this to this (eventually!) both sides attacked as both were mullered (I did 'em twice as I wasn't happy) and the boot floor has had a large section let in too (lost progress photo's) as well as some major sections of the floorpan - can't find 'in progress photos' of this lot though (GF keeps stealing the digi for friends parties etc....) but plenty of practice on this heap has meant the welding has improved a lot! I'm off to purchase even more off-white Hammerite and finish that lot. I've also 'rolled' (read flattened with a BFH) the arches in readiness. Etch primer, stone chip etc..... all ready for the off. Seam sealer'd most of it - finish that in the next couple of days - then underneath all good. Big thanks to OB, Nightmares Mark, Grizz and Scary(Swampy) for advice, encouragement and listening to me bitching ;D And all of you guys for some of the mental builds on here that kept me going - thinking 'I can't let 'em all down' More soon - I promise - RR09 is the target

Lets clear up car terms: "Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car. "Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car. "Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence. "Torque" is how far you take the fence with you.

Good to see you moving along with it mate. You done owt with that hillclimber thing you bought? Matt It's sitting patiently at SOC's - I have the engine and running gear for it sitting here in Brussels - I'll work something out over the winter for next year mayhem after I've finished 'testing' the track car ;D Excellent progress mate. Looking forward to seeing this at the gathering, I know there is no chance of my Midget being there. I was planning on getting it to LAST years and discovered floorpans like yours mate - how's yours looking now? Great! I want to see this outside of that shed you have! The shed is ALWAYS open for business - you can come down and practice the welding on the new rig too when you want. I've got a load of patients waiting the stick glad you are keeping at this I am too (now) - was a loooong year! Glad to see you back here John. Just keep lugging away, it all comes together in the end. it's looking like it might! Even Babette didn't just tut and sigh top stuff and respect to keeping at the rust when most would have bailed out If I'd seen all of the curse word I'd have ran a milewalked away - but foolishlyluckily did it in sections Top job! Good to see you back with this. Thanks a lot - wasn't about to give in after all the slog Nice one John, hope to see this in the flesh at my place next Thursday ;D If I worked at your rate - perhaps - I'll do my best fella. More pics (all boring) over the weekend as I try n crack on. Tip for anyone with any cash - go buy shares in Car Filler companies Thanks for all the other comments guys - as I said (and Babette is sick of hearing) I can't leave it - too much time in and look at what 'this lot' are doing - so it's all YOUR fault John Now - where's my grinder, those new front n rear springs and what did I do with the j-alloys?

Looks like you have had a lot to do.Its all leylands fault i have read that they changed the country that made the steel and the cars from 74 onwards are more prone to rust cost cutting i expect I am not sure which but the steel for these cars was sourced from france and spain not sure which was said to be better just remeber later cars can rust more . I like seeing the amount of work people here go to so glad i have a lot less to do to my triumph 2000 so far i had a friends uncle weld my new sills on and inner sills repaired and had my mate steven weld a new bit of metal where the rear seat belt mount is in the bottom of the right hand side rear arch .eep plugging away looking forward to seeing it finished .

OK - the latest - apart from the theft (see main pages) Mon - got back from Lobbach and TOP weekend, to face this so cracked on, filled the diff and fitted the rear axle/diff/suspension (again!) - forgot pics as I was in full swing then seam sealed the whole damn car I think, was high as a kite by the time I'd finished that one. So tried the alloys Boot floor finished off and with a little of this and a LOAD of that the arches/bootfloor/up to mid section were stone-chipped and put back together went home and enjoyed fume induced euphoria - then crashed out. Tue only managed a couple of hours - GF quality time - but managed to start the engine bay going back together electrics re-routed/extended, battery in boot (no pic - oops) - studs removed and replaced with hex-bolts - easier and a lot faster on/off also cleaned up the engine bay a little as it was mullered from the recent long haul work. Still looks a 'mare though Last night managed 4hrs - so got a little more done new addition (old one dead) brought out to play so I could fit the 'made to measure' exhaust (yeah right!) - these bits came off so I eventually ended up with it in place (curse word first pic) boot interior going in - but again, forgot pics - sorry also needed to attack the shocks, threads were mullered somehow and dropped it temporarily - to gauge spring/angle grinder interface requirements and threw this lot roughly in place - over the next couple of days I hope it'll be all in then stone chipped inside front panel etc... and matt blacked it all - radiator dragged out and forced in and left it like this - almost ready I hope found this hiding amongst the detritus, don't normally do shiny - but alloys demand it I suppose of course - not everything is as planned, and one of the NOS rear seals for the rear drive shafts isn't playing ball So will need to get that out and another ordered and fitted asap...... Getting there though I hope. More to come - will be in there almost every night over the next week. John

Nice one mate, those wheels look spot on Can you take some rough measurments of the Spitfire tonight so I can start doing my maths for the other secret project? I´m assuming the GT6 and the Spitfire aren´t that far apart? I´ll need overall length, width, front and rear overhang from middle wheel hub to end of bumper.
