1983 Mitsubishi Sigma wagon-Experiment

Well, in the search for higher learning, I am cleansing myself of the Celeste I had on here.
After a couple of other failed attempts, I have found myself a reliable J cruiser wagon. Always had a weird soft spot for these cars, especially in Sapporo/Eterna form.

Been 3 weeks, but she's gettin there

Plan is to "mod" the springs today, and maybe fit a nice big external oil cooler

Then the J cruiser shall be complete!

I should have something like this in my life very soon! Looks great with the bonnet paint and wheel swap, look forward to seeing it lowered.

This is most interesting, your one has a 'datsuncherry' shape front end like below but the rest of the metalwork looks identical to mine. The side profile etc is the same as the earlier shape but the front end is the same as the later shape.



Do you have anyone supplying body panels for these things over there?

The old Japanese trick of keeping the older estate model staggering on when the rest of the range got updated? Also bit like Cortina Mk4/5 estate and Escort 1/2.

This Galant/Sigma thing is incredibly complicated!

Mine has the Sirius series 4G63.

No silly engine plans yet, have scroed some extractors and a 32/36 webber for it though. Just want a reliable J styled wagon.

Sorting some flat side R1 or similar bike carbs and a decent rebuild as I type. Would like around 140-150hp when done.

Also stripping her out and throwing some Starion suspension at her!

That does look rather fine doesn't it. Perhaps I shouldn't have sold mine...

Unless for some mysterious reason they differ from Japanese-built models, they're 4x114.3mm PCD aren't they?

Yeah 4x114.3mm (4x4.5") PCD, Mitsi didn't start using 4x100mm until the introduction of the 91 onwards shape Lancer/Mirage.

You just want to find out when Nigel Bickle is bringing his latest acquisition across (doubtless there will be one!). Seem to recall him saying the next one would be in a container, so room for a bit of stuff if you ask nicely?...
