this is looking wickid.
dunno if this helps at all, but tis a common mod to put rover 800 brakes onto a crx as they're bigger and more powerfull, can be picked up from scrap yards for peanuts and more or less a direct fit onto crx vtec hubs. if youre sticking crx brakes on there might be worth bypassing it and sticking the rover ones on instead.
also theres a fully built B20 engine on the civic forum ready for planting into such a car for £650ono
what ever happens this is going to be awesome, id love to do something like this.
good luck with it

Cheers for the comments folks, progress is delayed at present while I await delivery of my new welder ;D It feels a bit like when you were a kid and it was the 15th of December! In the meantime much time has been spent in the garage drinking tea and discussing the direction this is going to take........ Rusty - cheers for the code, the last one I built was running Acclaim engine and 'box too. It's a good conversion that'll wind off the end of the speedo quite happily. IIRC we had to put a spacer in on one of the driveshafts somewhere to get the civic shafts to seal properly on the Acclaim 'box. And it snapped the bolt on the engine end of the top steady bar every so often.

Somewhere back at the beginning I said that I was going to put MK1 Golf arches on........ Thought it might be about time I found out if they were even going to be close to the right shape. Ordered a pair from the local factors and trial fitted them (how would I survive in a world without gaffer tape?) And with some 14x6 E30 wheels I recently stumbled upon mocked intoi the arches(if anyone has a pair of these taking up space somewhere let me know)

As for this guy.........OMFG......... ............er......... when have having coilover been some special club that only rich german car owners should be part of and secondly if he bothered to find out about Low5 he might be suprised to find out its not coilovers at all. This is why I use Retro Rides, generally speaking anything goes and diversity is celabrated not frowned upon! VIA LA RETRO RIDES. *Rant over

a few of the guys over there just aren't into any kind of old cars which is a shame but its a lovely forum normally but as with every one make forum some people don't like the other cars going on it. a lot of the original members all drive J cars now and every now and again they'll be a bitchy thread on them and there cars. its the problem with all forums really.
enough of that though lets concentrate on the civic!
