Over a year ago. Shocking.
It lives again - and I drove it! I backed it out the garage, three point turn and reversed it in. It's not much, but it's a start!
I took the 1200 engine back out and changed the bearing. I fired it up today - it is fairly tired but there are plenty of miles left in it and it'll be fine as my stop-gap. Unfortunately the throttle linkage I got off someone on 105Speed either isn't an Anglia one, or it's been altered, because it doesn't reach the carb and the top of the linkage touches the bottom of the air cleaner. No worries, I'll take some power down to the garage and modify it to fit. A cut and a weld should do it.
60hp and I'm prepared to use all of it.

Cheers guys. Paul, not sure, depends if I drive to work usually.
I modified the throttle linkage on Saturday so I could have a little drive around the carpark. Slight misfire on one cylinder, which is probably the mish-mash of plugs or one of the leads that are a bit dry and stiff. Easy to fix. The car feels great to be behind the wheel though, can't wait to get it insured and MOTd again. Technically I only have to connect the lights up again (flipfront) and it's ready for the MOT!

Pass, no advisories I think I drove for about an hour and a half after the MOT. I hate driving but I felt somehow relaxed and the other road users sort of weren't even there. I went and got my brother so we could share the experience because this car is as part his life as mine as I've had it for 12 years now. I built the car to handle predictably with the 145hp motor in it and with the 49hp 1200 it is a completely different animal. I learned a very valuable lesson when my throttle cable snapped once - with only 1/4 throttle you have to remain very committed if you want to drive fast. You need to go into corners with balls and every movement has to be smooth and precise. No hanging the back end out showboating, it's all about the entry and exit. So here I am with the same car and 49hp. It's amazing and I'm sort of tempted to stick with the small engine. Rock solid suspension, deliberately neutral handling, a lot of grip and amazing brakes in a tiny tiny little car. It really is so small by today's standards and compared to the T, which isn't even that big itself. I'm on a high and I'm loving it. I feel like I'm back!

Awesome - glad you're having fun. ;D
I too like driving a car that hadles well with minimal power - oodles of fun, and all at reasonable speeds.

Excellent news Jonny and yeah! they are bl**dy small compared to most cars nowadays. I always enjoyed looking up at lorry wheel nuts on the motorway as they overtook me.

…I'm on a high and I'm loving it. I feel like I'm back! Big congrats on the fresh ticket! Love to read comments like the above, genuine mojo-boosting stuff! Know what you mean about Lo-Po motors too, I still fondly recall my series of Chevettes and the way they taught me to ‘carry speed’…! Nice one mate, enjoy it!

Jon, you do realise that now the Anglia is on the road we need to have that long overdue match race vs. the Herald. No time like the present they say! ;D

I'm now working through all those little jobs that take about 5-10 minutes. Last night was correctly wiring the voltage regulator on the back of the dash so now the gauges read correctly. I've fitted the side badges back on. There is a small leak in the float in the fuel tank so I need to pull that out and solder it up. Then it's touch up all the paint dings and flat and polish it Oh and the wheels need a repaint too.

Well it's been a bit of another rollercoaster over the last few months, but I should be good to get this to the Gathering ;D
On the way home from Le Mans I hit a pot hole, the car took a diversion and I went straight over a kerbstone. The chassis got bent, anti-roll bar mounts all munched, steering bent and two dented wheels. all the bodywork was fine but it was work I couldn't do myself so it's had to go through the insurance. I sent it down to Burnham Autos because I was confident they'd be able to do it and with a bit of luck I'll pick it up tomorrow.
So now it's fingers crossed that the engine makes it there and back because it's starting to sound a bit bottom endy. KFW said he's made it his mission to make sure I get there even if it means driving out to find me with spare engine which he's going to lift in by himself. BY HIS SELF!
