Heres another Viva!! Ive been floating round here for a while, but never posted anything....good to be on a forum not flooded by escorts!! ;D heres the car when I got it in march this year, its a HC 1256 SL with a stainless exhaust, lowered on some compo's... I drove it around all summer until the MOT ran out, then I thought I would take it of the road for an engine bay tart-up... which kinda turned into a full resto...stripped floorpans, new sills but not much rust!! ;D stripped the roof as it had a vinyl roof which was hiding some surface corossion... stripped the inside of the floor... then did some etching thats pretty much where I'm at, got to start thinking about engines and boxes tho... scott

Welcome and well done! So much potential and so many decisions as to what to do!! Personally, i think the wheels look bang on - now you just have to figure out which V8 you want to put in it..........

Bloody 'eck , that is a typical , "gonna just tidy it up" job.
Well done for getting carried away.
Great job so far.
Oh, and welcome to the site of your life.

Hope you plan on re-vinyling the roof, looks very smart on that car! BBS E30 wheels and a Banks Toyota lump under the bonnet? ;D

Thanks for the comments!! Id love to put an XE in it, but I need to find the later wasted spark engine so I don't have to modify the bulkhead so much.... thought about a turbo on the original engine, but it still limits me to 4 gears and 10000000rpm on the motorway.. ;D A V8 would be nice, but I run a sierra with a 3.1 essex in it and the fuel bills for that are bad enough!!! scott

Great project - Looks like you made a good clean job of stripping the old paint / underseal - what did you use??

the underseal was i right pain to get off, a blow torch and a scraper followed by wire brush in the grinder does the job!! ;D
I used nitromors on the paint but it wouldnt take the primer off so I got some poly-carbide paint removers ( look like sponge soaked in grit) from autoparts, they're ace for takin paint off flat panels, stay away from the edges though or the material just dissapears!!

WOW, your viva looks mint!! i bought a 74 2dr hc from edinburgh about 6 month ago just after i finished my mk2 cav turbo, i went with the idea of putting a turbo on the original 1256 but then found out they were common to put push rods through the rocker cover!! so moved onto a rover V8 idea only to find that i would need to remove alot of the wind tunnel, then moved onto a 2.0 8v (c20se) from a astra gte which fits in on a manta sump and gearbox and still allows you to leave the brake servo where it is but like my mate said "if your gona build then do it properly" so i have the later type c20xe on a manta sump and gearbox, thats gona run on original management with a few tastey mods of course, but even still with the later type the hall sensor is very tight against the bulk head and thats after removing the lip from the bulk head to scuttle panel!! so all in all its fun either way, 2.0 8v is easy to fit in or c20xe and few mods and move the brake servo or bias pedal box!! hope this helps and hope to see your viva on the road next year!!

OHHH another one of my car from the past.... ;D ;D ;D Not got many pictures of it... but it was a 14000 mile form new car, spent 20 years or so in a garage, dragged (and I mean litterely drag) it out of the garage, replaced the dear engine, rebuilt the brakes got her runninga nd sold it on to its present owner....... looking so much nicer than what I could of done at the time.
