wilko, where are you based? I'm after a few bits too BTW, is the one you have the gold one on an S plate? Sorry, only just seen this - gold could be the colour, but more accurately, algae green! I'm near Milton Keynes - what bits are you after?

Has anyone got a set of old estate shocks and springs that I could borrow/have? as I need them for a company to look at to build some suspension mods.

I'll probably have some old front ones going spare in the not too distant future, but I guess you're after the rear set, as uprated front end gear is all readily available. However if they would still be of use to you, let me know

Come on guys there has to be someone with these bits spare. I'm working to get an adjustable suspension package made up which will hopefully be same price as a static one. Anyone?
Folks are right about the seat belts in the rear there are only points in my car to fit 2 point harness' and no lap belt. Where have people mounted the third point (seat belt reel) in the back of their cars?

Folks are right about the seat belts in the rear there are only points in my car to fit 2 point harness' and no lap belt. Where have people mounted the third point (seat belt reel) in the back of their cars? Since your's is a '68, it should be able to take a pair of 3 point belts in the back. There should be the mount up on the top of the c pillar, another in the corner of the seatpan & arch, and then the mount under the back seat (this might just be a bolt on a spreader plate though) Piccies hereWatch out though, since the metal surrounding the lower mount (as shown in the first two pics) can rot out badly..... see also scaryoldcortina's recent thread in the general section to see how bad it can get!

Cheers Paul, Thankfully mine is solid. So far I have the pillar mounts but the floor mounts seem to be evading me. I am putting in 4 point harnesses so need an extra one as well because I'm using inertia belts.

By floor mounts, I assume you mean the centre ones? If so, these are probably hidden under the lower edge of the rear seat backrest. The seat is easy to remove - on the lh side, push aside the rubber / plastic cover over the hinge pivot, which exposes a slot in the metal mountings. Then use a flat bladed screw driver to push the spring loaded catch & that side will then pop free, releasing the back rest

Cheers Paul ;D your advice on seat removal worked a treat; and the holes with captive nuts were already there. Just got to get a plate welded in the rear to mount the reels off now. Thank you!

Just got the reel mounts put in the back of the car by Gary at Retromotorsport in Harlow, Cheers Gary. I will get some pictures up ASAP. Also now have a nasty metal on metal grinding noise when braking so I think I've broken something so I'm gonna have to take the brakes apart again! Has anyone got any old suspension bits laying around?

Has anyone got any old suspension bits laying around? Aargh! I had an entire front axle \ suspension clip in my job lot, but I left in behind in Oxford because I couldn't fit it in the van! Do you want me to have a word with the bloke to see if he's still got it? You'd have to go to Oxford though. FOC apart from that.

Update on what I have been up to: Rebuilding my brakes as the other day I lost all the brake fluid and almost hit my wall. Previous owner was said to have overhauled the calipers which appear to be new so I decided to check out the servo and master cylinder. Neither had been touched and were full of curse word and needing a rebuild. This was full of brake fluid and grime. Took the a day to strip and rebuild due to being corroded. Finished pics to be uploaded later. Is brake fluid supposed to get into the main air cylinder? New seatbelts, I couldn't put up with the webbing strappy ones that were in the car and needed inertia ones due to work so have almost finished fitting them. Pics to follow. Volvo very kindly fitted captive nuts ready for the install. Only one other point needed fitting. Which Gary made . Pictures of that to follow. I remembered I had a set of 5 stud compomotive split rims in the shed so pulled them out for a test fit. Apart from the cobwebs I thought they looked cool. Only problem is they are the wrong PCD New donor vehicle. The body is pretty much rubbish but the mechanicals all seem in order. So i'm going to strip it and transfer all the good bits over to my car. This includes the black interior which will go with my new front seats which I will pick up this week. More soon. James

Good work! There's a new rwd Volvo forum up & running now, with an Amazon tech section etc. Early days (opened over the weekend!) but the word is spreading I think Bstardchild on here had a set of very similar looking wheels in the right pcd, that he was selling, if that's of any interest. Let us know if there's anything going spare off the donor car, as I'm on the lookout for various bits Might be interested in the old belts too. Btw, did you remove the metal trim panel around the rear belt mounts? It just screws in & can hide a multitude of horrors behind....

Cheers for the tip Paul I'll check it out. Should be stripping it over the next few weeks so will let you know whats left. At present I know I am going to have a full cream/brown interior and two black front seats that I don't need. Oh and the old belts too.
