They were knocking about as 4wd estates up in cumbria and a few of my farmers sons mates quite liked 'em, from that photo, I'd say that it has a bit of a look of a lancia beta (?) coupe about it too...
Go-on, bid for it, whats the worst that can happen?

This is an older shape of one than the one which became a 4wd… I have never seen one ever! There might be a good reason for that though….
Plus this ones done 160,000 miles! Not ideal for some tinny J shoebox.

Wow! My first car was a 80 2 door. Rallied, slalomed, long trips, short trips, jumped,spun,fogged up the windows a couple times  Ours came with the 1A, 1A-C, 3A and 3A-C 1500cc longitudinal FWD Actually quite durable.(And economical sshh) Pull the supercharged plant from a MR2 if you'de like. Should work. I was told years ago the floorpan has such a pronounced transmission hump because they planned for an optional 4wd setup as well  Never did find out what the top speed was but I did have to invest in a radar detector  |

Also, if you look at it right, you can see the lines of the 79 Corolla sedan. Just a little squared off.
It was meant as the FWD replacement for the Corolla.
Sold in the States as the "Corolla Tercel"

all rusted out now... mostly driven by near-homeless people
