My farthers MG metro turbo was stolen last night from outside a local welders workshop It has been there for a while, they dragged the blokes landrover out the way to get to it!!! It was stripped for restoration, no interior, a few bits missing from the engine etc It was stolen from Two gates, Tamworth, Staffordshire. But i doubt its still in the midlands!! This seems very professional, as the car had 3 flat tires, sized brakes and the engine didnt work!! They must have had a flat bed lorry or something similar. Reg is F28 AOE This car ment alot to my dad, i hope we can get the b*****ds who did this. Any infomation would be great thanks!! Or just keep an eye out for any dodgy cheap bits going around. Many thanks Guy

Some people. Shocking. What's thebetting it was Mini folk? Can't think of any other reason to 'ave it.
Not tarring all Mini folk with the same brush here - driving around in a tiny tin box does not automatically make you a Metro thief!

It must have been stolen for the engine and running gear. The rest of the valuble bits were not with the car! The shame is my dads already given up any hope of ever seeing it again!
Also in our local area a mk1 golf was stolen in the same way, it was un drivable and also in for restoration the other side of town!
This has made me think are our cars ever really safe!! If a 3 ton landrover cant stop um whats a garage door going to do!!

Jesus. I suppose if the thieves know they can clean up by flogging bits to the Mini people, all they see is a big pile of cash lying behind the Landy. And with scrap prices at £150 a tonne or whatever, they could weigh the rest in. I hope it turns up. There really is some f*cking scum out there.

Scraps only at about £80-£90 a ton here. A metro would only yield £60 tops. Is that worth being arrested for? Must be some easier cars to pinch and weigh that are much bigger! The only reason I can think of its been pinched is for parts but even then you could pick up a rusty MG Metro for not much money. Feck knows why its been pinched!

It's a turbo don't forget, I've seen turbo engines go for between £300/£450 before now, even non turbo MG engines have gone for upto £200+ more recently. you could probably get a reasonable amount for the interior aswell. If someone's willing to break a car window for a bit of change on the dashboard (or even a bag of mints and a stick on digital clock as in my mum's Moggy Traveller years ago!), then some low-life would definitely put themselves out for a few hundred quid I reckon. Sad but true That said, I hope to god this one finds its way back to safety!
