I spied these mirrors yesterday whilst at a car boot sale, and bought them for a very reasonable price They are stamped on the back with the volvo badge and lettering, and the letters "I M P". I've been googling to try and find what model they might be for, but I'm not sure... They look like they MIGHT be for a PV544: BUT the arms on mine are far too horizontal - there's no way you could get them to be as vertical as in that pic and still mount properly. Any ideas anyone?

The funny thing about Volvos is that just about every part has "IMP" stamped on it, even the radiator hoses on the later RWD models have it. Those certainly look like Amazon mirrors to me.

Darren, depending on how much you want, I could be very interested in buying them off you! What condition are they in? (The pic makes them look like new)

Mr S, I'd love a 2.3 T in the Amazon, but it was fitted with an exchange recon B20 only 7 years (& less than 50,000 miles) ago, so there's years of like left in the current engine. Also, it's currently in the bodyshop of a top Amazon specialist (having £900 of welding / panels for the MOT - see 'Dilemma' thread), so an engine swap is definately well beyond my wallet at the moment. Even with just the B20, given enough road, it will (eventually as the aerodynamics aren't great) reach an indicated 117mph (on a derestricted autobahn) and there's enough torque to spin the rear wheels, especially if I floor it when pulling out of T junctions ;D so a bigger engine might not be the best idea.....

a bigger engine might not be the best idea..... Why have you stopped taking your medication? These words are clearly those of an insane person! ;D Seriously though, it seems you do have your sensible head on - I think mine got booted over some hedges whilst the "silly head" was on my shoulders and it's been that way ever since! ;D

I know what you mean, but if I had a car that could cruise easily at well over 100mph, that's probably the speed I'd drive at on the motorway..... To put it in perspective, one of the reasons that I love the Sprite is that I can thrash it (actually, I have to as it's only 948cc), and enjoy driving it (but still be under the speed limit & not attract attention from plod) as it feels so much faster than it actually is ;D

Darren, the mirrors arrived yesterday, and I'm extremely pleased with them - many thanks! The only problem is that I now can't decide whether to fit them when I get the car back from the bodyshop, or to wait until after the respray (once all the panelwork has been sorted) as they are a bit shiny for the rest of the car ;D
