The old Hyndai Stellar 1.6 GSL at the back of the farm is upoosed to be going this morning for its axels £50 for a sierra owner, axels and runnign gear being the same as the tina and sierra apparently. Always wanted to do it up, get it back on the road, lowerd, deep dish steels, big carb etc but never had the money to restore it. So knowing the guy would be coming this morning I washed it last night revealing all its racing red paint and lovelly shiny crome window/bumper currounds and cover! Knowing a week or so i would be selling it I tried to jump start it to no avail, scrap heap me thourght but this morning, jump started it ready for this bloke, and its running like a baby! We had all sorts of problems with it conking out, choke not working etc but now not one problem (except that it only starts through jump starting it o corse) So its siting in the yard, red lovely retro and shiny and running sweet as day, no blue smoke, temp slap bang in the middle of the guage, been bombing it down the drive (long half a mile farm drive) and its going like stink, dad had a go and said its more powerful than he remembers... And its going for £50! He said he'd come before 12.00 because he needs to be out somewhere, its now 11 and hes not rung yet... Big personal dilema!

So, did he come? That is a dilemma, if he's not interested then keep it for sure, it'd be a shame to see a saveable old car get torn to bits.

The axle is the same as a tina but no good for a sierra. In which case you'd be better off hanging onto it ;D.

New revilation- Said bloke e-mailed me just after 12 saying that the brakes on his trailor had failed this morning when he was just leaving for here. He says he can come next weekend tho for sure since he's got a mate thats offered to fix his trailor for him. don't know wether to be happy or annoyed! lol I'd love to fix it up but i just don't have the money or experties at the moment, plus I have my heart dead set on an Imp which i don't want to go against. The Stellar would drink fuel, cost a lot to keep it from rusting into nothing and would have to pay tax on it. No counting in the money needed to get it on the road in the first place. I rung up 3 Hyundai dealerships a week or two ago asking about parts, body panels in perticular. The two of which that could be arsed with me said that the only parts they did for them any more were the front wings due to the fact that there are so few of the things about now. There are also so many small problems that add up, blowing zorst, wobbly gear stick, poor brakes the list goes on. But I really do love the thing, it really does look absolutly retro stylee great now its been proper washed this morning. Plus it ran great once I got it going, ran as sweet as anything. So what to do what to do. I suppose I could try and see if he will go any higher, saying that its now running better than it did, is clean and that I'm having second thourghts about selling it. Or does anybody think it might be worth more than £50 to anyone to do a retro/euro makeover? don't want to see it go for its axels

Well, I think it's worth more than £50 to the right person, but it's finding them! To 99.9% of the population it's a banger, but if you could find someone with enthusiasm for such a rarity then you could get a bit more I reckon. Have you scanned the Bay to see what the situation is?

ebay seems to mirror everybody else, a few sales brochures, brake cables, 1980s car review mags. and thats about it. Every so often there will be a Stellar on the american ebay, the stellar was a 2.0 in Canada which found there way into america.

can we have any pics of this stellar? i'm quite intrigued, and also want to increase my retro vehicle knowledge! For the sake of 50 quid it sounds like you may aswell hang on to the car, you sound very attached to it!

i reckon you should keep it. a good start for a cool retro motor. if the pcd is ford fit a set of deep dish dartboards would be a good start for wheels. then slam the b*stard ;D ;D ;D

Here she is, given it a good washing today so its looking a bit better than this now. Second car released in the UK by Hyundai shortly after the Pony. Was basicaly the first in the line of Hyundais family saloon cars. It was also pretty much a Cortina mk4/5 with a different body and motor which is a very basic simple Mitshubishi lump. 1.6 in the UK 2.0 in Canada. Now very rare car from what I can tell and from what i've found out. I've not personaly found another one on the road in the UK so far. I think it looks kind of cool anyway, love the colour and all the crome etc and yeah would look kick ass with some deep dish alloys, lowerd etc.
