Awsome thread!! must admit I didn't click on the thread untill just now as I (wrongly) asumed it would be someone welding up the rear doors and leaving the short front doors on How wrong was I? Can't wait to see how it turns out

Being a panel beater by trade I can fully appreciate more than most what your doing here. You've clearly got a good bunch of mates I like how you've joined the roof - I can see why you wouldn't want to go the usual route with the pillars. At least by cutting the rear off you can treat all those areas that are oftem missed. Bet it was fun lining up for the first time Good luck and i'll keep a watchfull eye on this one ..

Isn't there a quote about it being a fine line between madness and genius...
I'm not sure which side of the line you're on, but that is outstanding work!
Stunned.

had a couple of weeks off due to going to the states, when i came back, mark, one of our night shift painters had a 2 week holiday so no night shift at work work has been shutting at 8.30pm so just been tinkering really.cleaned up and flatted round the window apertures, primered and fitted most windows with the help of young james, just want it watertight really! last week i fitted 175/50's on 8 inch rims, 3 went on quite easily. the 4th, well what a curse word!! it was about 5mm to narrow due to being squashed at the bottom of the tyre stack after an hour of fooking about, i resorted to filling it with deodorant and lighting it!! popped straight on !!! tuesday i prepped the centres and painted them tonight (cheers jay) no pics as i lost my camera in an alcohol fuelled night in the states ! and been helping mat (panelnut) restore a gt6. should be back in full swing next week

last night i removed all paint from half of the roof and the o/s qtr panel. what a mess i made!!! BIG THANKS to pauln for coming down tonight and grabbing a d.a. and jumping right in now no paint on the n/s qtr! oh, and i did the rear panel. not exciting but must be done as the paint is like hammerite and applied with a roller!! also wasn't keyed so chips off. theres no way i could paint over that! still, on a positive note, the panels are on good condition considering they're 40 yrs old!! _________________

Still more sanding but we now have a surface to attach paint to. Ignore the doors new ones to be fitted. Mat has started to de seam the rear panel/valance join for a smoother look on a car with no bumpers. Before After
