Just remember - an LS1 fits in any hole a Rover V8 fits (insert evil laugh) An LS1 will fit in anything. There are people here in Australia with LS1 powered Kei vans, Lada Nivas and Niki 650/Fiat 126s. Yes, of course with work and determination anything goes in anything, but I mean it's easy, it is physically smaller in each dimension than the Rover, so it is just engine mounts BTW I am a Melbourne man

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

Amazingly there is still room for humans in the cabin! Biggest issue would be NSW rego laws. Getting somethings that's 1000-1100 kg registered with a 5.7-6.2L LS V8 would be ... tricky. At least a V6 is only a shade bigger than the 3.5L Rover V8. Because what's the point if you can't pass sports bikers on their favourite roads?

17 cars, passed my test 12 years ago and now living in France, the Hillman, C2 and STI are back home in England still and I am driving around in a new LHD VW Caddy (which I love)
A little bit of an RX7 fetish. Might get another one when/if I go home and sell the STI and C2. Seem to buy cars, love them but want a different version or more modified version so sell on and get another one.

Knew I'd forgotten more, also had a 1964 Vauxhall Cresta PB and a 1973-ish Triumph 1500. I'm getting old, my memory is fading! Knew I'd forgotten at least one, my 1959 Austin A35 bless it. Did you notice the modify-button in the right upper corner of EACH of your posts? So why not use that instead of writing an "Knew I´d forgotten..."-thread for every car that you suddenly remember? ;D And after you modified the original post with the list of your cars, you can try another button near the modify-one with those additional posts: the delete-button. Well it's fairly obvious that I hadn't noticed the modify button but then I'm someone who's not super duper up to scratch on the computer devices, lol. But thank you for pointing it out and the delete button, hadn't noticed that either. So my post now amended with all the cars I've owned. Unless I suddenly remember another one one, I've been driving since 1972 so naturally my memory gets a bit hazy!

Hi Guys,
Think i need to give this thread a swerve, worked in the motor trade most of my life as a dealer and definately owned upwards of 20,000 cars, but toys/unusual i've owned would be a different matter.
Cheers.

How can anyone list a Mustang and then put a Laguna Diesel after it and own a Kia Pride and an Aston Martin DB6? ? HATS OFF TO YOU SIR ;D Cheers dude ;D actually the Kia was an ace little car my dear departed grandfather gave it to me several years ago when he packed up driving, it had about 18k on the clock.. was terrifying at high speed but buzzed around town to work and back brilliantly even got a project Honda crm motox bike in the back once, and it fitted'ish' without damaging anything!!! Tha laguna D estate (bought on here BTW)... what can I say... utterly dependable (it's still going strong in a mates hands) but without a shadow of a doubt the dullest thing I have ever driven in every possible way love the black mk3 escort!

I too am motor trade and have had countless cars, some good, some bad, some bland and boring. But almost every one would now count as retro, if not a full on classic. Even today, the newest car I own is a 95 Cavalier. I've always loved old cars and always driven old cars. Some of this can be put down to the job, mechanics traditionally drive cars that others have thrown away. Some of it is undoubtedly down to bangernomics, why spend a load of money on a depreciating modern hunk of junk when you can get a car for a couple of hundred quid, run it for a year or two and at worst, bin it at the end and at best make a small profit. Quite a lot is down to my liking for the unusual and individual and the styling of the 60s and 70s my formative years. Add in a need for speed and very little money and you get my current Vauxhall powered 73 Toledo and all its forerunners in their many shapes and sizes.
Steve
Alright, a few highlights!
1956 MG Magnette ZA, my first car (MGB st2 motor) 1961 Ford Galaxie pro stocker 390 1965 MkI Cortina "woody" estate (1650GT) 1964 Ford Thunderbird 1965 Jag E type 2+2 1959 and 1960 Ford Zodiac MkII Farnham estate (and 9 other MkIIs) 1965ish Sunbeam Alpine Tiger (a real Tiger, but fitted with a Boss 302) written off by my girlfriend of the time 1963 Zodiac MkIII (and 7 other MKIIIs) 1969 Triumph GT6 MkII Convertible (with Spit 1500 tub) 1972 Ford (Aus) XY Fairmont wagon 351 1964 Volvo 122S Estate (lhd French market model) The car I kept longest, 1982-2011. 1978 Triumph 2500S Estate Current fleet of 92 and 95 Cavalier Autos, 72 4 door Toledo, 73 2 Door Toledo ( with Vauxhall Carlton engine etc) and a 78 Dolomite Sprint auto which is slowly getting rebuilt with a 2.2 16v Omega power unit.
Oh yeah, how could I forget the Bustleback Caddy? In my case an 84 Seville with 4.1 V8 and no redeeming features whatsoever. Inherited from my late father in law, he must have really hated me! And the Olds, an 84 Custom Cruiser wagon complete with 8 seats Chrome roofrack and gallons of fake wood on the sides. And an 8mpg thirst from the 4bbl 305. Clark Griswald would have loved it, I liked it enough to buy it as the alternative seemed to be a Zafira, but not enough to keep it!
