Age: 22
Been driving since July 2006, so 5 years...
1) First car - bought when I was 16, 1992 (K) BMW 520i. Learnt to drive in it, passed my test, found the real world of extensive insurance + crippling fuel costs (for a college student) weren't ideal:
2) 1997 (R) Seat Cordoba 1.4 SE - Bought from my sister to replace the BMW:
3) 1997 (R) Honda Accord 2.0iS - Bought for £400 as the Cordoba just didn't match for pace compared to the BMW.
4)1999 (T) Vauxhall Vectra SRi 140 - Got given for free, replaced the Honda. Lovely car. Somebody bit my arm off for it though so I got rid...
5) 1997 (R) Ford Mondeo 1.8 TD LX - Bought as a cheap, economical runaround to replace the Vectra. Was a bit of a tip tbh.
6) 1995 (M) Ford Mondeo 1.8 GLX TD - paid the grand sum of £70 for it - I actually purchased it for the engine alone, to put in the red Mondeo above. Very strong engine, 2 owner car, immaculate inside just needed a new front bumper, I decided to keep this instead and got rid of the red one. It was too good to pull apart. I retained the alloys for it though...
7) 1993 (L) Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 LS - £110 saw this come into my hands, replaced the above Mondeo when I sold it to a mate. Somebody tried to nick it but got disturbed. It was never the same after that.
8) 1997 (P) Ford Fiesta 1.3 LX - Taken as a part exchange for the Cavalier when my mate needed a family car. Blew the engine up on it, replaced it (cheap as chips) then sold to my cousin.
9) 1996 (N) Rover 420 SD - Fiesta wasn't my type of car, so bought this Rover for £400. Fantastic cars.
10) 1998 (R) Ford Escort 1.6 Si - Bought off my mate for £200 as he had just got a company car, the tax had ran out and no off street parking. Put it back to standard, sold the bits off and then flogged the standard car for £400 quid. That was over 3 years ago, its still about now!
11) 1998 (S) Renault Clio 1.4 RT - Bought for £250 which was a bargain back in 2008. Had a fault according to the owner, in that it needed jump starting but then just died after a few miles. I'd already noticed when checking it out to buy that it was missing a tensioner for the alternator belt. Sorted this, ran it then flogged it to my mates mate for a stupid amount of money.
12) 1993 (K) BMW 316i - Was a repossession my mate had pulled in from a log book loans company (he owned a recovery firm) paid £230 for it. Not a bad motor, scrapped it in the end with engine failure.
13) 1995 (N) Volvo 440 1.6i - Bought off my mates dad for £100. He was a Volvo technician and it was very well maintained but had replaced it with an S40. It needed a waterpump in the time I owned it but nothing major.
14) 1998 (R) Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 LS - Bought from my mate for £400 as a runabout.
15) 1998 (R) Citroen Saxo VTR - swapped the Vectra for this, what a fantastic little car! Another mate bugged me to sell it to him, so I did.
16) 1997 (R) Rover 420 GSDi - needed something to replace the Saxo, this was parked outside work for about £500 I think. 153k on the clock I bought it, kept it for a few weeks then sold it as I'd seen something else.
17) 1997 (P) Rover 620Si - This had caught my eye for £250 quid and took me back to the days of the old Honda Accord. Went all over in this, really racked the miles up.
18) 1999 (T) Rover 214 SEi - Bought off my girlfriend (at the times) neighbour. Didn't have it long to be honest.
For the life of me I can't find any pictures of this car. I know I have some because I sold it on eBay. Shame really as it is the only one of my old cars I can't find a picture for !!
19) 2002 (52) Ford Mondeo 1.8 Zetec - Pretty much bought this car blind, drove really well but started burning oil. Flogged it on eBay before I had to spend on it.
20) 2002 (02) Skoda Octavia 1.6 Classic - needed a cheap replacement, this 170k Octavia had been part exed at the Ford dealership my mate worked at. £500 for a 6 year old car in 2008 was a good price. Sold it to some Polish guys for export.
21) 2004 (54) Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Ghia X - We are up to 2009 now. Bought this as I loved my last Mondeo and always wanted a Diesel one. Was the most unreliable piece of junk I have ever had the misfortune to own. Spent more time at the dealers than on the road.
22) 2007 (56) Vauxhall Vectra 1.8i VVT Exclusiv - after swearing I would never have another modern diesel due to bad experience with the Mondeo, I got this. This was the first car I kept for an extensive period of time. Loved it and miss it...
23) 1994 (L) Vauxhall Calibra 2.5 V6 - bought as a 'toy' to run alongside the Calibra...
24) 1997 (P) Vauxhall Asta 1.6 16v GLS - £100 bargain to see me over when I sold the Vectra (bought myself out of the finance agreement, wanted to go back to older cars).
25) 1998 (R) Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Club - The above car was curse word, so bought this for £600. Fantastic.
26) 1998 (S) Rover 620Si - Bought to replace Astra. Do like a good Rover!!
27) 1998 (S) Volvo S40 1.6i - Wanted something cheap and reliable. Bought with 70k on the clock off eBay for £600, 2 owner car, immaculate with loads of history. Kept this for a fairly extensive period of time.
28) 1998 (R) Volvo V40 1.8 - ran alongside the S40, this 155k ran and drove better than teh above! Paid £400, it was a load lugger which got trashed. Sold it few months later and its still going!
29) 2002 (51) Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v SXi - Ran alongside the S40 as well after I got rid of the V40, was a bag of nails. Sold it to some bloke as far away as possible on eBay (I was honest in the advert though!)
30) 1996 (N) Peugeot 106 Diesel - Replaced the Volvo. A drunken £100 bid on eBay saw this un-MoT'd tip turn up. Flew through an MoT and was one of the most reliable and fun cars ive ever had.
31) 1998 (S) Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia - Cheap runabout off a mate:
32) 2000 (X) Vauxhall Omega 2.5 V6 Auto - Always loved these, bought this off eBay and was probably the best car I have ever owned. Unfortunately the fuel costs crippled me, so I gave it to my dad for free! Lucky man!
33) 2010 '10' Seat Ibiza 1.6 Sport - my current 'Eurobox' daily. Value for money it was fantastic but to be fair I'm getting a bit bored of it and it isn't really me. With having the car below too, I want rid so I can buy another old Mercedes...
34) 1984 (B) Mercedes 190E 2.0 Auto - Bought from this very site as a second car.
34 cars in 5 years....
