we are over the road from landor street which has a massive wieghing in yard so they could be going straight there, but i'd assume the police would have been there right away.....

Someone knows how to break into them and "hot wire" them easily so goes on a cash back spree weighing them? :-)

Yeah there are a few older cars that, having owned them myself, I know how easilly I could take one. If I wanted to earn some extra pennies, I would target those cars I know, stealing as many of them as I could find and weighing them in at a no-questions-asked yard who shreds them straight away.

as said already, steal what you know. shame this still goes on, scrap yards who don't ask questions are just greedy imo, if you cant make money legally from scrapped cars then get another trade cos it really cant be that hard

Hate to say it but is there a Micra only banger meeting on near you soon?
Happened around here a couple of years back when there was a metro only meeting, with similar numbers of metro's disappearing.

I thought you had to have the logbook now to scrap a car. I had to when I scrapped the Uno. People saying they're curse word obviously haven't had one. They're brilliant cars, cheap, handle well, 1.3 16v is pretty quick.

To scrap, yes. To frag? No.

It used to be Escorts round here. Mk5 and Mk6 ones. Parts from the dealer etc were expensive and the cars were jsut at that point where they were still being fixed, but only if cheap. Some dodgy backstreet garage was caught with the remains of about 20 different stolen Escort and Fiestas.
Other than that, they are easy to steal and maybe theres some part or parts on them which are rare or hard to get or expensive.
Weighing in would seem a little odd. Surely you'd target heavier cars...

aye, but for the same effort you could steal a Volvo 740 and it has like 4 times the metal in it.

the only reason why someone would want to steal a micra, is to drive it more than 40mph and get in most peoples way, using them in the correct manner rather than being a hindrance and thwarting other road users progress

Nice stereotyping there! I always drove my Micras as I would any other car and I didn't wee on the sits or drive with my nose glued to the windscreen either!!!!
