Just trying to figure something out peeps. Saab 9000 aero's had mitsubishi td04 turbos fitted. I know this is a popular upgrade for the 9000. What i'm trying to find out is - were the td04's fitted to 940 turbo's the same? Thanks for any help. p.s. have a cool pic

TD04s were fitted to most impreza wagons up to 2000, and all non - STI imprezas upto 2006. That's all I know about TD04s!
Probably doesn't help much.

That's weird I thought scoobs were all IHI powered. Do you know what size was standard on 99ish wrx's?
Oh well, guess i'll buy it and then see why it won't fit.

There's loads of different TD04's in all different shapes and sizes. The TD04 bit is just the series, the model comes after. I'm not expert on them, but basically the bigger the number the bigger the turbo. For example a 12c is tiny, but an 18t is probably good for over 300hp. The 13c fitted to the Volvos isn't happy over abot 12psi, at which point you're just heating the air up. Go bigger than you think you should and you'll make more power on less boost- trust me.

Gah rubbish, it was the 13c i was looking at.
*keeps searching*
This leads me onto another question then - what stuff had a large turbo from the factory? Not feeling payin 4 times the value of the car for a brand new T4

Well, the Td04 in question uses a T3 flange, which I assume you have. This gives you a massive choice of turbos. How much power do you REALISTICALLY want to make and do you have the supporting mods to make it such as decent exhaust, intercooler, etc.?

I'm looking for just a lazy 250 for now, but with a turbo that will be capable of handling the naughty side of 300 for when i get the rest ofthe bits for the engine together. I already have a swanky alloy intercooler to replace the standard saab intercooler. For now it will just be running a bleedvalve with knock protection left on, but will be getting a remap in august. Again the JT 3" turbo-back exhaust will happen at the same time as the remap.

p.s. not fussed about the lag from a turbo to an extent as it will only ever be a quick cruiser not a b-road blaster

Cosworth T34. A good friend is in China as we speak ensuring that the spec and quality are as they should be before releasing them on an unsuspecting public. They will be good, I can guarantee that.

Any rough specs on it?

Hi Tig I'm sending you a pm as a friend of mine writes software for some of the Saab Tuning companies in this country. He has at home a 400bhp 9000 with minimal modifications and no turbo lag. He has basically said to get a second hand Mitsubishi turbo (small one, no lag) and the software can then release another 100bhp easily. Speak to you soon

Any rough specs on it? 740 Turbo, Bilstein shocks and springs, some upgraded suspension (poly all round) leather interiour, front seats from a 850 T5, 940 rear lights, and 8v turbo engine (don't remember the type, was a 2.3 at least) pushing right under 300 hp
