Hello all.. Been a while since I looked in but I have been a busy boy.. sadly not on my car. I purchased this of 'boring' on this site.. Well its still running and if I may say slightly better than it was.. only jobs I have done so far are... Fitted OEM leads rotor and cap Re-tuned LPG.. now running spot on. Fitted new solid pipe air intake and new air filter New tyres Rolled arches (so new tyres didn't rub!) Re-aligned AFM Reset kenlow fan. Removed spoiler Think thas about it so far.. however have a few plans for when funds and time allow. Next on the list is to remove the side trim. Other stuff I want/need to do.. Get a replacement bonnet Have some bushes replaced New jetex exhaust Possibly change wheels.. (undecided) Remove tow bar Get new drivers side window motor Source and fit new volvo spoiler Some as yet unconfirmed speed/power upgrades ;D (supercharger is high on the possibilities list!) Possibly look at fitting four bucket seats. Fit a Stereo system Final touch.. paint it matt black. Heres a few pics of the car as it is now. If anyone on here has owned or knows this car i'm after any more info I can gleam about it.. specifically what if any work has already been done on the engine. Need to know before I start any other modifications. But any other info appreciated. If anyone can help with any of the things I am planning (spares, services etc.) or has any questions don't hesitate to drop me a line. Also i'll be putting the spoiler I removed on the bay shortly and may do the same with the wheels if I can find some original 240 alloy replacements, tow bar is also up for grabs when I get it off. If anyone whats first refusal let me know. Cheers Joe

I owned this before borings missus and got it from bryn.... its a great car.. engine has not done much work really lots of new bits and rebuilt not too many miles ago.. I made and fitted the wheels.. the exhaust is a simoniz (i think) sports system from sweden. has bilstien suspension all round although you've prob noticed that as it handles well! 205 55 15 tyres fit best and feel right on the wheels. the lpg system it a proper profesional fitted kit thats why I had to mod it loads to work properly. the air pipe from the filter to the plenum needs to be there for lpg to work properly as it needs the draw.. glt interior fitted. I fitted the 405 pug spoiler in a mad moment but then didnt like it so I'm glad u've taken it off! from the retro rides show last year it was photo'd in 3 magazines and otherwise known to a few on here so I'm glad its still on here.. ps if you are going to sell the wheels I had around 10 or so offers so doubt they would be too hard to sell.. ps have another picture: and when bryn owned it.. si

Cool thanks.. Are you talking about the smaller diameter breather type pipe that branches off the air filter? If so this was missing when I got the car.. although so was most of the intake pipework.. lol It is however still missing as my homemade (bits of 940) intake didn't have a branch for it. Mind you after a lot of tweaking the LPG works a treat now.. will start on LPG (although I always start and stop it on petrol) no backfires and unnoticable difference in power between the two. Reckon I can still fine tune it very slightly but that will happen when it happens. Hoping to put a proper volvo spoiler on although I havn't figured out what the one I want is called yet.. did see one on a nice torslander saloon yesterday though might have to track it down and see. Bonnet needs replacing as its a bit bent, the wrong bolts were in the hinges and guessing overtightened to make it shut flush (which it still doesn't) now its flexed along the back and a bit wonky. Also not sure why but the strengthening bars under the bonnet have been filled with expanding foam and it weighs a ton. Congrats on the wheels, I do like them but as i'm thinking of painting the car black not sure they will work.. and don't want to repaing them silver with the chrome centres as would look wrong.. mind you I could go gold or dark gunmetal grey.. that might work.... Local tyre place had a job balancing them though! My tyres are a little big at the moment 205's but definately not 55's I think.. I will replace them when time allows. I re-rolled the arches, well cut out the hammered bits and refolded the edge slightly, as they were catching a bit on the bumpy dorset roads.. especially with my dive gear and passengers in, now am toying with the idea of flaring them a little with some fiberglass. Mind you all in good time I suppose, the exhaust has a large hole at the moment so thats high on my list as is a check over and some bushes ready for its MOT.. then who knows.. probably exhaust, cam, reset timing maybe even a bit of porting and if I track a suitiable one down the addition of a supercharger. Joe no not the small diameter pipes shouldent be missing but oh well?! i ment the pipe coming from the remote filter to the gas mixer.. as the orig mixer was a small one to create enough of a venturi to pull the gass through at low speeds. it unfortunately ment it was really don on power! so i fitted a bigger mixer but open it wont get enough draw to have it ticking over (unless the gas is turned up loads) but with a remote filter and long pipe to the mixer it worked brilliently. also hardly any power loss on lpg the exhaust was good when i had it and still shiney in most places.. has it rubbed through over speed humps or something? cant remember any hole tbh.. it was a proper performance exhaust so best get anouther large bore job unless u want less power.. bonnet i jacked up using longer bolts and spacers so don't just remove spacers as bolts will prob go stait through bonnet!! good luck on the modding though.. prob best to use a 2.3 turbo engine and supercharge that tbh as the low cr will be perfect for some decent boost and just drop it in the bay when done.. never l;et me doen that car would drive it anywhere.. and its showed up a few golf gti's and the like before.. si

Those wheels are awesome! For your next bonnet, get a flathood.

Indeed kudos to Si for the wheels.. kinda want to keep them now. Its not in bad nick at all to be honest.. has been waxoiled or similar underneath fairly copiously too so no real rust to speak of apart from the tip of one sill. Has a few annoying niggles but time and some cash will sort those.. wrst at moment is gearbox.. refuses to engage first unless car is stationary and difficult to get 2nd unless low speed (only when changing down though) Stationary all gears are easy and there is no noise or whine when driving in any. I'm perplexed although gearboxes are not my thing! Joe

I'm usin B230 bottom end and B234 16v head on my turbo.. that is the mother of al combinations on the volvo.. big power can be had this way and at non-massive cost.. late red block with piston squirter bottem end is the one to go for.. std internals on this will cope with just over 500hp apparently keep us/me updated with this.. it sounds good. si

Hi again all.. just a quick bump, with a little update.. Been putting some mileage on the car and its still performing well. The gear problem has 'I think' been traced to worn linkages so should be an easy fix although I could be wrong! Mind you i've adopted my driving style so now I don't notice it.. hence that issue is now low on my to do list. I also checked and tightened all the LPG hoses etc. Now running a better still and getting a few more miles to the tank. Ahhh the joys of cheap fuel! Finally I'm sorry to say that i've fallen in LOVE with possams RX7.. sadly a hoped for swap was killed off by SWMBO and the Rex is now for sale at a bargain price. So if anyone wants LOVO buy the rex and I guarantee you a swap.. lol (see possams post in the for sale section) Someone must save me from doing the silly thing and taking out a loan to buy it!! Off to put 6 months tax on LOVO now. Fingers crossed.. someone be nice please!!!

Hello again all.. Well LOVO may be saved, the RX swap fell through so LOVO is staying, at least for now and hopefully making an appearance at RR'08 although only in the car park! Anyway off diving this afternoon so got a couple of jobs out the way first..
Fitted a new Thermostat and flushed through the coolant system and refilled it with something thats apparently antifreeze but looks like orangeade. Fitted a new set of NGK plugs Adjusted half the bonnet with success, just got to sort the other half now! Removed the side chrome trims (ones half way down the car) now looks much better just got to fill in the holes before I paint it!! Will get some pics in when i've finished playing with the filler. But for now I'm off diving...
On a side note I am considering a turbo conversion, supercharger is too much work.. I think and the K-Jet injection system is likely to pop with more than 7psi of boost. SO considering a engine (although I'll keep my good block) swap with a 760 turbo or similar, as long as its a 2.3... anyone got anything to hand that might help me out?? Oh and I need to source some more straight and angled pipe for my induction, its currently sucking in hot air from the rad area.. Grrrr, oh and think I've diagnosed the gears as some very worn linkages, although I'm used to it now so don't notice it, if I manage to find an engine to swap i'll do the gearbox too so thats on hold.
Anyone with any parts/cars lying around that can help out let me know!
Joe

Hi again all, Well I've been very quite on my build thread recently, partly due to a crisis of ovlov confidence and being tempted by a big Beemer.. anyway crisis averted and I'm still in love with LOVO, I managed to attend RR 08 and thanks for the kind comments on the car, if anyone has any pics please let me know I'm trying to collect as much on it as I can. On the same note if any of you who have prieviously owned the car have any relevant paperwork etc I'd appreciate anything! Right back to the car, after a mildly disasterous intake coming loose incident on the way to RR08 i've had to temp. bodge it till I can get some new pipework and figure the routing out better. Ive also fitted retro goodmans a radio kindly swapped at the show and further fiddled the rear arches. Ive also removed the front plastic arch liners to gain a bit more clearance and taken off the plastic under engine cover thing. Its mountings were knackered and it was due to fall off anyway.
Now the bad bit.. is MOT day tomorrow.. fingers toes and all other things crossed, I'm not overly hopeful though there are a few dubious spots on the car... little jobs hopefully though! Anyway have a couple of pics of the car as she stands today... Oh and if LOVO does pass then there is a major change waiting to happen, so you'll have to wait and hope too!

Well as I said the wheels were rubbing on the rear with even a slight load.. so out came an angle grinder, hammer and some fibre filler.. Now much better but not pretty! It will do for MOT time and till I figure out a better soloution. Of course it made it to RR08 and I ended up with a load of like minded Volvo nuts.. roll on RR'09!
