Figured if anyone could help you guys could. My mum is getting some russians over who want to see classic cars in and near to london, like a collection of classics (proper classics not retros really). I was wondering what there was in the way of maybe a private collection or a museum for classics in london or not too far from London.
Thanks for any help peeps.
p.s. i know of the big museums around the uk like gaydon and the haynes collection and the like but they're a bit far out tbh.

Not a museum, but you should see this showroom: www.chelseacars.com/Always a massive selection of proper classics in A1 condition, with various Ferraris, Bentleys, Cobras etc perpetually nipping in and out of the workshop. It rocks the most.

Yeah i did ponder it, don't think they'll be too pleased with 10 russians wandering in and having a nosey. Although on the flip side they'll probably end up buying a couple of 'souvenirs'.

Can't think of anywhere in London tbh, except a few dealer showrooms (eg Chelsea Cars in Wandsworth) or perhaps the Classic Cars night at the Ace Out of town, there's also Beaulieu in Hants or Bentley Wildfowl & Motor Museum in East Sussex HTH

I'd have thought ten Russians wandering in would be exactly what they wanted...

How far from London is do-able? There's the Shuttelworth collection at Old Warden and there's a little museum in Henlow or there abouts too.

I will actually suggest the ace cafe night, just thinking the weather is a bit of a variable. Anything up to two hours drive out of london would be ok if it's a big enough collection really.

There is a good museum at Brooklands with (mainly) prewar British racing cars and motorcycles, and aeroplanes with a Concorde and some other stuff - mainly Vickers as they owned Brooklands postwar.
Plus there's Mercedes World, basically a massive dealership with a few oldies chucked in, AMG S classes, SL's and other stratospherically priced new stuff to sit in, take photos of your mates in, etc.
It had 60s pop star Donovan's 300 SEL 6.3 and a 600 when I went, pretty impressive motors.
Failing that Gaydon is easily within 2 hours reach of the A40/M40 in North West London.
