I must be getting old - that was a lovely looking Sierra this time last year, now it just looks like a knacker. Your car, your choice ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yup, it was a really tidy sierra, that looked in good condition (never saw it really close), and with some nice mods done. Now it looks like a £150 scrap sierra that was rubbish so got sprayed and is now off to the nearest drift day for a bit of cheap-ass fun. Oh well, as long as you like it!

[head over parapet] Well I like it! so there ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Hope Robin won't mind me saying this... the pictures of it in gold were quite 'flattering' especially after the 'drifting/telegraph pole' inciDENT. As he says, the car was bought originally to paint NATO green and he has been resisting painting it for 2 years now, so fair play to yer Robin. Get the stencils on there right now (or 2morrow at work ;D ) Your ride, your way,

all day long I could spend ages wading through pictures of trampy sierras, "drift" sierras, "diffing" sierras. It may be a side-effect of living where I do, right in the heartland of "hai bai, ye got anythin' reer whil dreeve?" territory where a marina is considered prime diffing (donuts) material because of the layout of its drivetrain. Living here means every single, and i mean EVERY SINGLE, sierra hatchback since the one my parents had when i was about 10, is a ropey, knackered, rusty bucket with a clattery engine, worn out driveshafts and 4 different sized tyres on 2 types of wheel, and 3 of them worn to the bands... And until I saw this one, I had come to hate sierras because the sapph shape doesn't appeal to me, and every hatch was a heap. They were all a day away from expiring, they were all driven by yobs who thought they were veterans of the japanese mountain circuits who all spoke in txt spk, and they were all nasty. Then I saw pictures of this one, and loved it as soon as I saw the wheels, the gorgeous colour and the tidyness of the body in general. I loved it even more when i met you at rr07 (if you remember lol) and got to see it close-up and watch it set superb times round the circuit. I can remember being horrified and a little distraught when it got damaged, as I am with any of the really nice cars on here or that friends have, but not outside of that. it has to be said it is the ONE sierra hatch i liked - the only one - and now it looks like the rest. It looks like the ones I came to despise, the ones that drove me away from fords almost altogether after being steeped in them as a child, the ones that are driven by people who drag my IQ down if i merely stand near them... it almost brings a tear to my eye. i loved that car and truly admired it. and now - well, in my mind i can jsut picture it at one of the ropey and unappealing "diffing" shows this country puts on for a malignant youth to trash perfectly good cars by virtue of their drivetrain being of the rear-driven variety. that said, it isn't my car or my choice. and it would look 1000 times better if it had the saab wheels on, in silver, against the green. which would bring it up to 5% of good. BTW robin, it aint aimed at you. It's not personal, and you're still a great guy. I just don't like your car anymore.

Brave step - getting out the rollers and "Nato Greening" it.......
I think FWIW that it has potential - it didn't make me go WOW just more like hmmmm - different needs something to bring it out and I reckon a few stencils would improve it
Tyre pressures on the arches too please ;D

Interesting. Maybe some highly pollished rims to get away from all the scrapyard comments and some kind of pinstripe along it's flanks

Agreed - needs some detailing....but I reckon it looks cool all the same.
Personally I'd go for a different slant to the usual UK or US military look.
'Cold War' Sierra FTW!!
Red star with a white outline on the doors & bonnet, serial number in ruskie font along the rear flanks and a large serial number with red star on the roof.
Then stretch a luggage net over the bonnet for the utilitarian look. SHHHWWEEEEET!!
Black steelies with winter tyres and you're getting there.
Do it.... ;D ;D

I really like it - it did look very good in Gold, but as you say, you wanted it this for time and I really, really like it on those rims!
What you want to do is stencil some saxo outlines over under the windows with red crosses over them, one for every car you have destroyed in the Sierra!

The paint looks a little flat, needs more of a sheen imho. I wonder if flatting it back and another coat would do the trick. I think the wheels could do with being gloss black and preferably dished to give some contrast. Rather than Eastern Bloc how about Cuban military detailing, whatever that might be. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

'Fidel' Ford or 'Stalin' Sierra - the theme will look pretty much the same, but the Ruskie style lettering wins it for me. Nice fur Cossack hat on the parcel shelf FTW! ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

Thanks for the comments guys, good and bad ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I knew this would be a bit of marmite decision to make. The RST wheel arn't staying too much matt paint IMO, I've got plans a foot to give the sierra some dish in a very bright glossy colour ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Trust me on this one ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) Oi Cheeqi any news on the shot blasting? I just saw ur forum name ................. It's not a 4i don't worry! It was a GLS with a EFi pinto, my forum name comes from my previous Sierra which was a proper XR4i (not in nato green, but red) pic............ ![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a376/robin_xr4i/FordSierraMynewtoy.jpg) What you want to do is stencil some saxo outlines over under the windows with red crosses over them, one for every car you have destroyed in the Sierra! Thats an ace idea, plus a very good mate of mines got a very quick VTS (cams and nitros) and it'll wind him up a treat ;D
