Here's an unexplored faucet of retro, the monster trucks from the 80's. Y'know, when they were slow and cumbersome and they really did flatten cars and they could only achieve 3ft of air as they weighed so damn much.
I like em, so here's a vid. Enjoy.

Though I started my love for them in the 80s, they were nothing then in comparison to now, pre-crushed cars, having to slow down a bit before hitting them. one run then breaking (though they still break a lot now too) plus none of them could do this
Give it a sec to load
Nor could they do this

I still think it's messed up that there was a falling out between Big Foot and the NHRA so we don't get to see them race as much. I'd very much like to see them race Grave Digger.

Especially the tank-tracked ones! Here's some more. ;D Note: do not adjust your monitors, one of them really is modelled after a steam locomotive! Mental!

I remember seeing the carolina crusher back in 92/93 when I was 5 or 6 in between races at a banger race down in Sussex and then getting a poster signed by the driver. I was chuffed. Spent weeks pestering my dad to turn his saab 900 turbo into a monster truck. He never did though...

Me and a mate watched a few old monster truck vids the other week, some awesome stuff on there. Rollin' Thunder has always been the coolest.
As a spectacle I prefer the modern ones, they don't look as good though.
