In Holland these are tax exempt, so it makes sense to import a rust free one from the states and swap the technical bits with your rusty old european..
also prizes on these are at the bottom atm due to emission and all in california, this one was imported in '01

No idea why a U.S serviceman would import a 245 to Europe if it would make more sense to buy one over here. I'm sure I heard it was free for them to bring their daily driver over. TBH most of what was bought over was a bit rubbbish, 1980's tat. A while ago I bought a Hyundai Stellar from a retired U.S airman. Hed come over, met an English girl and settled down, buying a "sensible" RHD car. I dunno, these Yanks. They come over, steal our women and tatty cars e.t.c Sorry going a bit OT there! A Hyundai Stellar from an American? They never sold Stellars in America! Maybe he was Canadian?

It would have to come from someplace dry like California, there's none left up here in the Northeast, they rotted away years ago! Cloth/vinyl LOVE those seats!

Driving it for a week (just about 60 miles) and now I see that the heating is broke. It's always hot...maybe the radiator is broke...
But with this weather...
Next week pickup a decent rear door, mine is all rusty..
A 940 turbo sounds great to me, but an automatic would tickle me more:)

You need a door from a 1974 144, 145 or 164, or 1975-77 244, 245, 264, 265 then... Wagons and saloons have the same doors, but in 1978 there was new door locks and because of that they won't fit. 1973 and earlier doors have the right lock, but they have a different window surround (and 1971 and earlier have pushbutton handles) so they will look strange on the car.

A family in the town in Scotland I was brought up in had a yellow US spec 240 estate. The dad had been on secondment to the US with IBM, and they brought it back when they came home.
It died when the eldest son drove it through the fence onto the beach on the way to Wemyss Bay - fact he was going north, the beach was on his left and he was sitting on the left means he got impaled on the metal fence as he went through IIRC. He survived though.

ohh, old volvo estates, you gotta love them.. theres a song, made by a swedish band, where they sing "My sisters man wanted to get a Porche, I said to him buy yourself a Volvo Combi coupé, be a conductor in a five door locomotive" but in swedish.. probably sounds better.. in sweden all vehicles that's 30 years or more is tax exempt, and up til 75 there's lower emission standards, so you can do almost whatever you want with the engine.. good luck with you car! i'll be following ths thread

It's a long time a go I posted something.....But after RRG12, I'll certainly post more (Hopefully, you'll forgive my poor English ;D ) Since last picture (above) there's been a lot doing.... We (Berendd, Thedoctor, Ivan141, TRDDennis) joined together and rent a barn is the south-east of the Netherlands, near the Belgium border. We called it, Sportklassiek Beunschuur (Sportsclassics workingshed)Nowadays, the red volvo almost has no rust! New paravan Taking from above... Detail pics It fits!! And then, we go on: This is the status of the red volvo right now. There's some little rust left...When tgis is removed, the car is going to get ready for a paintjob (with the roller, just likes Hein BMW02) This is the color I wanted to be: There's also no problem with parts, because my parts car is good an useable. Here some pictures of it on RRG12: I'll be using lots of parts of the white one, but the look on the outside will be the old one, with the round lights, flat bonnet and big bumpers. Hopefully it's ready voor RRG13!
