I'm selling this as my fleet is once again getting a) too large and b) too modern for my liking. It's an N reg Astra TD LS hatchback in metallic green. It's in pretty good nick for its age and certainly looks very smart - only bits of grot I've found are a bit in the lip of the OSR arch which isn't bad at all by Mk3 Astra standards, and a ting bit of bubbling round the rear wiper spindle which is only really visible if you're looking for it. It's done 138K, cambelt was last changed at 126K so that should have plenty of life left in it. Everything works as it should, and it's all standard, with the original radio/cassette and Vauxhall wheeltrims. It has a towbar, which doesn't look to have been used much.
The engine is the 1700cc GM engine, not the 1686cc Isuzu. I'd never experienced this engine before buying the Astra, and I have to say I probably prefer it to the Isuzu. It might ultimately be slightly less powerful, but it's a lot more flexible and has very little turbo lag so in the real world it's just as quick. I've replaced two of the glowplugs since buying it (the only two I could get out with my curse word spanners) and it starts first time every time, even when it's -6 outside like it was yesterday morning. It drives as you'd expect it to - not the most exciting car in the world but very relaxing, and it's brilliant on diesel. I think the fan belt could do with replacing at some point as it squeaks for the first minute or so when starting from cold, but that's hardly the end of the world.
It's tested till April and taxed till the end of March and I'm after £325 for it. I'll take some pictures if it ever stops fugging raining for long enough.
