Couple of weeks ago I was pootling along some Hampshire country roads about 11pm when Bambi threw himself in front of my 'new' ride. I'd only had it less than 1 month too! Result = one bashed Vectra ::)and one very mashed Bambi. No pics of Bambi for obvious reasons. Unfortunately it's worse than it looks. However, I've sourced all the bits for under £100 and a mate is going to do the work and any necessary painting.

Looks better than mine did after the 'bambi' incident.. although admittedly it was a sign post that did the damage on mine... hope you kept bambi!

what Bambi did that damage on your car? I once hit Bambi with my starlet and all i had was a mangled numberplate and some blood on the bonnet/roof etc. The deer wasn't dead after i hit him, but it was after it hit a tree which it flew into after the hit

Joking aside I'm just glad he wasn't any bigger otherwise he could have ended up in the car with me! Also he died instantly so did not have to suffer, broadside at about 75mph will do that to a roe deer you know!

Jeepers. Seems to be a lot of this about at the mo. When I picked up my Legacy, I drove straight over to the East Anglia RR meet. On the way, I had a deer jump out in front of me, but it was its friend I gently nudged. Glad I slowed down!! Just pushed his leg out from under him but no damage to deer or J-tin.

scary stuff.
almost did this to a cyclist a few nights back who had stopped at the edge of a dual carraigeway (even tho there was a separate cyclepath on the pavement) 9pm no lights or reflectors, black clothing. My gf spotted him at the last second and i narrowly avoided hitting him! mustve given him a fright!

My dad hit bambis dad at 60mph in his Mondeo V6.
Wasn't a pretty sight! Bonnet, grill, bumper, headlight, front panel, radiator etc all became scrap, but being a company car it was all sorted and back on the road pronto.

I've seen some nasty broken cars caused by the deer on the A87, you just see the glint of their eyes then they decide to commit suicide... some useful info here, including carcass preparation (yum!) www.dcs.gov.uk/joint_a87.aspxRupert

hmm... never actually hit anything myself... remember my mate Andy taking his Estelle for a shake down after he'd just spent a couple of week abusing a hire car in the USA... hammering along our favourite test road and there's a beautiful white dove just sitting in the middle of the road, it took off in plenty of time for us to miss it and it kamikaze'd straight into the old Skoda... looking behind could just see an expanding cloud of white feathers... and there was a nice smear of blood and guts along the roof line... never did find where all the edible bits went to either ...

Is it still the law that you cant stop and collect your own roadkill but the guy in the car behind can.... for obvious reasons!

I think it is still the law, i found a boara few months ago, had just been struck and killed, looked fine though, took me about 30 minutes to get it in the boot, weighed about 15 stone or more, still have some in the freezer

I've hit two deer in my time. First one was a 60mph hit in a hire car (Honda Civic). Had that slow motion moment of watching the bonnet crumple up toward me. Scary. We hit another last summer in the Camper. Bloody great whack, saw the deer fly over the hedge to my left. No damage to van whatsoever, but it does have two dirty great girders as a chassis. Just remember, if a deer does run out in front of you and you miss it, keep on the brakes as it's mate will not be far behind!

Lol.. Aside from my deer incident the nastiest/funniest deer incident occured in Scotland.. We had gone on a stag hunt up north as a present from work (used to be a under keeper) spent 3 days walking and stalking with no luck, on the way home a bloody great stag jumped over a hedge and landed squarely in front of our defender 90 doing 70. Bloody great bump and the majority of the deer ended up in the pick up back.. well the top half of it at least.. assumed no damage and in the excitement/shock didn't bother to check.. (landrover..bull bars etc.) till we tried to drive off, bull bars were snapped one had penetrated radiator and gone clean through into fan and belts.

ive had a couple of incidents . once with a mk2 polo full of mates coming down a country lane. saw one come out and thought thats ok missed it. went bit further round the corner and the other one followed it pretty much got accross the road. i clipped its and it span round and its head hit square on the passenger side a piller and promptly exploded. covering my car in blood and brain. and most of its lil beird being stuck in the doorjam (it was a deer btw... not an old guy) for obvious reasons everyone got out the drivers side. i had the pleasent day of cleaning the curse word off a white car ....... a week later as i thought it looked kinda horiffic around halloween had one or two since as well but only lil love taps and nothing that bad thank god
