I am in the final stages of purchasing a BL product of the poo brown variety, the only problem I’m having is finding insurance for it most companies won't insure it as its to old 1980! or I’m to young 19. What insurance companies are people with here? Are there any companies who do classic insurance for under 25s

footman james do right down to 17 year olds, but only on very select models. i.e theyd do me on a 1300 popular escort when i was 17, but not a 1300 ghia. then once i was 18 they done me on a 1600ghia.

I'm with liverpool and victoria. they were the cheapest i could find for my 1.6 golf.
don't know if they would be any good for a classic though.

if you get desperate, i think HIC do 19+ on classics.... they leave a lot to be desired on customer services but their prices are rock bottom and you can modify the curse word outta your car for hardly any extra.

I'm also with Footman as i had the problem that most required you to be eitehr over 21 or 25 but with footman James it didn't matter - staff seem really helpful aswell.
The only thing they required was that you were a member of a club and i said this site and she said thats fine....

Tesco 18 years old, modded escort (+20% power, seats, alloys), 1.3l, no points, 1years ncb, £800!! If you go with footman james (or simlar) you don't get a ncb so you will loose out in the longrun.

I'm not 100% on it mate, but for it to be worth it you have to have a lot of people on it (or you have friends who own a rather largeish company) and tehre are certain clauses involved. with this one, he the geez doesnt really want me to claim through it as he hasnt had a claim on it for the whole 5 years he has had it, and if there is aclaim, it bump it up something like another 5k! so if i have a crash and I'm to blame, it would be cheaper not to go through the insurance company even if it was an expensive crash

The car in question is a 1500 Dolomite, current quotes are £950 from Norwich union, apparently I get a discount because the micra is insured with them. And £760 from cis both fully comp. All this has made me realise how cheap the micra really is £360 fully comp 19 no no claims ;D
