At last, dtuning has something vauguely retro! I am now the proud owner of a Nissan Sunny coupe. It needs some work for its MOT but after that I dunno what fate awaits it! Thanks to big Alan for selling it and to Craig at Auto safety centre in Hamilton (01698 424445) for the loan of the trade plates! Photos by bigalan

Well done, you got a great car there.
I sooooooo wanted one of those years ago, they were launched very shortly after I bought my Toyota Corolla hatch.

Alloys are just below MOT stuff on the shopping list. (especially when I realised the decent tyres on it will fit the 'rolla!) Trade plates were loaned by my new boss (officially!) who thought the whole idea of buying and spending time and cash on a £100 'banger' was hilarious! He doesnt seem to get the whole retro rides idea!
Anyway, I think I'll get it thru its mot and tidy it up a bit then run it because its not bad to drive.... unless another project comes into my imagination! LOL!

You should try to get the ZX side skirts on there, but they're hard to get hold of. And if possible the 1.8 twin cam engine to spice it up a little. Or get a Bluebird Turbo engine in it.

Job number 1 should be to get that rubber spoiler back on there! Just imagine the difference it'll make to the way it drives ;D

That is very nice..
Is the sunny ZX a B12 sunny, or is it actually an N13 pulsar/sunny? Where both versions on sale in the UK? and is the 1.8 a SOHC (silvia/bluebird engine) or a DOHC (200SX sans turbo)? I'm asking as they are sparking my interest. Also I've seen one for sale with MOT for £395!

That's a B12 sunny, although they ran them concurrently with the N13 sunny. Respectively they're known as a Sunny Coupe or a Sunny Hatchback.
I think engines were SOHC 1.6, and DOHC 1.6 and DOHC 1.8. (CA16S, CA16DE, CA18DE?)

The Sunny coupe and ZX coupe are based on the N13. The 1800 ZX engine is basically the S12/S13 16 valver without the turbochucker! From what I remember CA=engine type, 18=engine size, D= Double camshaft and E=multipoint injection. I'm sure the 200sx has a CA18DET (T for Turbo)
(LOL, Ex Nissan apprentice!)

The ZX bodykit would cover up my 'agricultural' welding!
Boot spoiler going back on soon. I felt the car could benefit from a bit more downforce at the rear so that should see to that!

How about this for a project idea. Convert it to RWD then the weight of all that spoiler would help with traction off the line! Have to say when I drove it without the spoiler it did seem a little wayward at the back ;D Must have been the lack of downforce ;D

This weeks update. Er... not a lot. Have stripped carpets and soundproofing out to prevent torching it when welding! Had a poke about it. Happy to report that I will get away with a few small patches rather than replacing the sills etc. Stripped and freed off the front brakes. Chucked the towel in as I was working in the drive and a blizzard started. Need to look at the rear as there is a noise. Not sure if its the back brakes or a wheel bearing. Will find out soon. Waiting on bloke emailing me with some pics of alloy wheels he has.
Will post some pics when I have done a bit of work!
