We can mix this up at Halfords - I'm going to make a few cans one quiet night and give it a go. I've mixed a few random pearls and flips up in the past, they come out alright, but its hard to get a consistent coat with our aerosols so it looks patchy on big surfaces.
I'd guess the flake is a bit easier to spray though.

This was discussed on the NSRA board and general reckoning was that it was more like a heavy metalic than a flake. But then the Plastikote stuff I used is relatively small compared to "heavy" flake and looks very effective in the sun.
Get a can and paint the air filter?

Yeah, the "flakes" are very small, I assume so that they can fit through the nozzle. I'll take some pictures of the stuff tomorrow if I get chance.

I use Halfords paints and get, quite frankly, stunning results! I work in a foam processing factory and its very warm in there all day, between 22 and 28 degrees, and the foam (theres LOTS of it!) absorbs any moisture in the air. Ive been using aerosols for years so my tecnique has been good for a while, but with the conditions ive now got the paint still looks wet EVEN when its dry! it realy is that good! I'm going to get some of this paint and see what i can get out of it, ive got some similer stuff but it took loads of coats to get a decent coverage. This is the best pic ive got of the results, unfortunatly its in bits now

Radio control car paints come in mad colours in fairly decent aerosols, can be expensive though cos its special paint that don't crack when the body shell bends.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I'd guess the flake is a bit easier to spray though. Can you mix Rage black chrome? The chrome paints work with a VERY fine metallic coat over a black base. We do mix the chrome stuff, you can vary the "chromishness" by putting more or less coats on. One coat over black will be like a black chrome, 4 or 5 coats will be more like a traditional chrome. I must stress that the chrome paint relies on the black basecoat being absolutely flawless and as flat as a mirror, finished to about 1200grit. Even the slightest imperfection/scratch will mean the tiny chrome particles settle in it and it looks a real mess. It also comes out of the can like water, we put 100ml of the chrome in a can (which goes in like water to start with!) and it mixes with another 200ml of propellant solvent in the can which makes it even thinner - it's very prone to runs.

It's the best chrome effect paint i've seen so far, unlike the other ones that just look like very shiney silver until you clear them.

Thats really essentially what they are, a silver with much smaller metallic particles. We don't do the actual rage stuff, but I should think any chrome paint would need a good clear coat over it before it "pops" as they are essentially a metallic colour.

oddly some of them I have heard (such as the Alsa) look fine until you clear them and then they go dull! Without the clear they are very fragile though.
Whats the recommend fo a very good chrome looking paint?
