its a pinto engine anyway, probaly from a sierra, maybe a cortina if its got points ignition, probably a motorcraft dizzy, should be the same points and plugs across the range. 2.0 or 1.6?

The engine in the photo is deffo a Pinto. If the 185 is on the side of the block then it'll be a 1.8 Edit: Sod sticking a GTi lump in it! Get a 2.0 pinto in there

if it has a VV carb, rather than the usual weber 32/36 - this might explain the rough running - as these VV carbs are rubbish

185 = 1.8, Rare sadly because they wern't very good Usually came packing a Peirburg! VV was the next best but still pretty bad option! Engine would be a lot better by just sticking a weber on! But if u can get a good 2.0 then do that! For car exact parts u would be looking at Ford Sierra 1.8 83>87 Pinto engine. Most of it would prob be same as 1.6 and 2.0 Pinto's. *edit* infact even a good 1600 would be better! Just seen rest of your photobucket looks like it's already packing a Weber? If so might need a tune up Anyway welcome!

welcome matey. where you from?
might just need a tune up as said but much more potential with a 2.0..... spose it depends on which way you want to go with it & what your funds are? a 2.0 would be a straight swap for starters.

Anyone thinking what I'm thinking? ;D ;D ;D ;D Actually would a Zetec or something slot in there on the Pinto adaptor?

.....or a carb refurb kit any leaks on the carb? If it's a V V carb forget it. Tried to get one last october but no longer made. Luckily I had a scrap one that I got the bits off.

on the block below exhaust manifold will be one of the following
1.6 or 165 = 1600 1.8 or 185 = 1800 2.0 or 200 or 205 = 2000
due to the 185 mentioned earlier i'd say its an 1800 as stated not the best but if not smokey/rattley then prob needs needs a tune, if is knackered then a 2.0 is a straight swap.
