I will have to ask the owner, it is MOT & Taxed. So that's a bonus for a classic Triumph.... ;D

Morris Minor van and a Triumph Herald estate. I've owned examples of both and by the looks of the pictures neither were anywhere near as well looked after as those two.

How tidy do they look? The Herald Estates are pretty rare now, especially in that kind of condition (I last saw one about 4 years ago that used to be driven daily around Warwick, and that was an absolute shed), but like how the Metro Turbo used to be, they're a museum piece rather than being mega valuable compared to other Triumphs of the same era. Damn, I have an evil plan in my head. Vitesse front end/Chassis + 2500/2000 6 Pot engine + Herald Estate body = Awesome . Damn, time for me to get this silly idea out of my head.

Theres a Herald estate near me, quite tidy and on the road , the only thing is mateys bolted about six spotlights to the roof on a makeshift bar arrangement, like they make it a "heavy duty Herald" ;D

There were a limited number of genuine Vitesse Estates made. I don't think they appeared on any price list but were available as a special order by combining two cars. They were put together by the London service depot in Acton if I remember right. We just had a diddy 1200

Thanks for the comments guys. After talking to the owner he tells me this one had spent most of its life in France..... Hence surviving I guess. The Morris on the other hand needs a little mechanical work only to get back on the road. Both these cars are in Sunny Manchester, so they are hardly ever taken out!

Two of the most common cars in the country, once upon a time! Both very easy classics to own now, with lots on the road, and big owners clubs (though as mentioned, not many Herald estates). The Herald is one of the last properly traditional Brit cars - front engine, rear drive, seperate chassis (all panels can just be unbolted, which makes it easyish to restore), and came with a range of engines, none of which was remotely fast! It has such tight lock that it'll almost turn around its own back wheels (makes an FX4's turning circle look big!), and will also scrub its own tyres at 3 mph if you turn hard enough.
The Moggie Minor, by contrast, was the most modern thing on the market when it came out, it's a monococque, had lots of interior space in a fairly small outside package (sound familiar? Same designer as the Mini). It lasted through to 71, and if BMC where French, probably would have lasted longer - it's really the British Beetle/2CV.
