Anybody who bought the compressor in the recent Aldi extravaganza might be interested in this - I found it linked from another forum. the folks there seem to think it works pretty well. Apparently it will clean the Aluminium nicely and also brings brass up like new. www.aircooledtech.com/tools-on-the-cheap/soda_blaster/I plan to give it a go on a set of twin 40's I have knocking about. I'll take some pictures and keep you all posted.

Cool find thank you ;D Seriously considering getting a proper Soda Blasting set up, just got a few mates that want cars blasting so if we all chipped in and bought the kit then it`d be cheaper blasting for all of us... Then sell it on again afterwards ;D

That's pretty awesome. The other option is to bang a shutz gun through the top of the box and just spray Baking soda is bicarbonate of soda, sodium bicarbonate or baking powder. I bet you can buy it by the kilo on eBay CHEAP! Yes you can

very interesting indead.
What else could be used as a medium? would this work for very small scale sand blasting to get bits out of nooks and crannies?

Does anyone know if that would also work on alloy wheels? More specifically to remove lacquer & baked in brake dust?

What else could be used as a medium? I was wondering this too. I'd assume any kind of fine powder really. I'd also suggest doing it into a bucket or something, so you could collect all the bi-carb back up, sieve it and use it again.
