So it passed its test on 27th February and 6 months tax was put on, she's a reliable old girl with a good history so ready to drive away. For the MOT it was mostly bulbs and other smaller things that needed sorting but the drivers side sill was holed at the top so that was welded up, other than that she's a good and solid, going around the body there are a few very minor blemishes, a little patch on the corner of the front passenger door, a patch to the left of the tail gate and of course the sill ends! The paint is pretty good, it could do with a good T Cut and polish but it would gleam. The trim above the rear near side bumper corner is missing as is the drivers side sill trim, you'll see this in the photos. The car is well shod with Michelins up front and budget tyres at the rear, The windscreen has a couple of chips and the trim is loose on the passenger side, it wasn't an MOT failure although the loose trim was an advisory.
Mechanically the car is an easy starter and excellent runner, the service history is comprehensive and the car comes with a reassuringly large pile of receipts showing how much this car has been looked after, there are a pile of MOTs going back some time showing the mileage to be genuine at 193281 and to have had a lot of care getting there. Most importantly the cambelt was done at a major £510 service at 186844 miles along with a new battery.
Inside the car is clean and the leather in pretty good clean condition if a little worn. All the instruments, dials and switches work as they should. With only a few miles since the MOT you'd expect the brakes to be good and they are spot on, the engine is lively and responsive and the auto gearbox changes as it should. The original Volvo radio cassette is in place and although is not up to playing LTJ Bukem too loud it is a good enough set. The rear load area is clean and pretty huge. Amazingly the heated seats work well as does the electric mirrors and the car is fitted with Volvo floor mats. as is common with these cars the fuel pump is a little noisy when the tank gets low but works well nonetheless.
A lovely car, high mileage is normal for a Volvo and with 193k on the clock there's many years reliable service left in her. The car comes with V5C, MOT until Feb 26th 2010, tax until the end of August and a fat wad of history, come and have a good look around the car, if you can't then I have lots of photos I can send you, the car is in South East London if you want to visit! Love to swap!
