I have a new Job which involves quite a bit of driving around the town. I keep passing this little Housing estate in Benwell which has all been boarded up. I managed to pop into it today and thought it would be an interesting place to hold an alternative meet. There are a few little car parking area's, and its easy to find. I think this is a bit of a marmite idea but could be cool. Its a bit different, its a quiet area and could provide some very cool photo's. Plus the place has an interesting feel, its kinda desolate. What do peeps think? Some photo's I took just to show you guys and gals what its like:

do we bring our own broken toys and dirty needles - or are they provided?

Hahaha a response I anticipated. Its a quiet place and I had a scout around and wasn't jabbed by discarded needles, mugged raped or murdered.
As I said its just an idea for something a bit different.

I suppose we could take some 'post apocalyptic' shots, with our cars in front of the boarded up houses, but i have a feeling it could turn into a 'mad max' scenario if the locals find out about the meet

Is that not Scotswood? Whats left of it anyway. Not for from Hodgy park?
Think a meet in, hire cars would be amusing. Spray 'Chavs are Soft' on the side and see who lasts the longest, cruising slow in second gear.

Lol, West Bank of the tyne I remember that estate. I lived in the west end but I wouldn't drive a cortina in there 20 years ago Looks much quieter now.. Could be cos everyone that wasn't mad moved out years ago and everyone else got shifted to Kenton Bar... I don't think the west end is THAT bad for a visit, in daylight, when there are plenty of us......,

id rather not. Yeah, you don't want to be rolling up in the Merc coupe in Benwell, you might get mistaken as a drug dealer

although the risk of bother is fairly low(the nearest community is mainly eastern europeans,,and the rest is empty),,, there is still joyriding to be wary of,,,which is still very common as ive seen regularly on and around armstrong road
welldone for the idea though:)

What do peeps think? To be fair , I think it's great idea . I llike a bit of decay , a bit of concrete and I agree that it could provide some great pics , just the potential location is perhaps a little bit too , erm, well you know So yeah , similar idea somewhere else maybe ?

What about the Fiddlers Three Pub in Gateshead, as it looks to have a good amount of parking, and its easy enough to get to. If not this place, will look for others
