I'm looking for some sealer ...sometimes used on J cars rear lamps or door membranes , its black sticky stuff that never hardens and will re use
whats it called and where can i get some

its very simular to roofing MASTIC used on flat roofs!
you can get it in b&q
or i'd use windowscreen adhesive/sealant that you get from a car body/paint suppliers like brown brothers
i have some at home so i'll have a look what its called!

you can get it from vw/audi dealers/the part number starts AKD 010 r10 or something similar ,they use it to seal passat pollen filter housings and old audi tail lights.

I believe its called dum dum, its also used when fitting the rear aluminium panels to the framework of a morris minor traveler.

Yeah you can use dum dum which you can buy off Brownbrothers or a decent factors, if not go to your local Nissan dealership they do a small roll in a box used for lots of their rear lights which is really good stuff, just ask the folks on the parts counter should not be a lot that way. Dum dum comes in a box that is big enough to last 10 years. ;D Where abouts are you as could sort you some out if you know anyone round west midlands way.  |

so the dum dum stays sticky forever , no need to reapply if you take it appart ?
any idea on the cost?

It never dries but after its been on for 30+ years its still best to re-aply with new stuff.

My mate who is a windscreen fitter gave me some of this type of stuff on a roll and you just stretch it out to get the thickness you want I used it on my rear lights and some other panels that needed a seal, no idea what it's called or where to get it (apart from a windscreen place) so not much help really.
