I've not been on here for a good year or so. Personal circumstances meant I had to make the heart wrenching decision to sell this last year. I've just enjoyed re-reading this thread.
I still miss it loads, and I mean LOADS.
Still, no regrets. Been there, done that and came out smiling.

It breaks my heart to think you've sold this but having sold some of my pride and joys in the past, I can understand the reasoning for doing so? It was quite probably my fave Citroen and so damn nice in every respect (fond memories of getting you to pull off the road in Bristol while I drooled over the car!) A few of us were talking about you the other day, how none of us have heard from you and hoped you were still around? Please do pop down to Area 52 sometime. It's been far too long. Keep well and please do keep in touch.

I hunted high and low to find enough money to buy it, I hope it went to a good home?
Hopefully see you at the next gathering?

Just beautiful I'm sure that although you'll never really get over selling such a car the memories that go with it will cheer you along no end...

Thanks for the nice replies!
It did go to a good new home and won a prize at a Citroen rally. It's been sold on a couple of times since, where it is now i do not know.
Cheers Bruce! That's very heartwarming. I am not living in Bristol now but I will try to get to Area52 sometime in the new year.

I guess I'm not a typical RR person - the cars on here seem to be modded and re-engineered beyond my abilities but it was the only way to let you know that the CX is doing well. Now I'm here, I may stay a while... You're right, I think it went through a couple of owners after you sold it. I bought it in Oct 2012 and it's been two years of fabulous motoring, and maintenance! The CX shares transport duties with a motorbike so it gets used often and still turns heads. It's largely as you sold it, standard wheels and it's still on 175s all round. Somebody has added a passenger door mirror - from a Jag by the looks of it - which doesn't quite match the original but is close. I'm in the process of trying to get hold of front wings and front underside panels, as they're looking a little tired and need replacing. Hopefully that'll be sorted next year. Just thought I'd let you know.

Welcome onahplate. Nice choice - your first CX? My first was an Athena, loved it to bits. Second was a series 2 22TRS. Third (ideally) will be a series 1 GTi with the bizarre chequered trim. Probably none left these days. Frustartingly, I can't fid a picture... Here's the Porsche version And for your pleasure, a rather simpler black and white CX interior. Lovely.

How nice that the CX is still remembered, especially as it's pretty much standard. Yes, this is my first CX. For many years I had Triumphs - Heralds and a Vitesse. I had a Vitesse saloon for about 15 yrs. I had to sell it due to finances in 2009. To keep it would mean running it into the ground, so I let it go.
My bruv suggested a CX ( he had one many years ago) when I was able to get something interesting again. The drive home was...strange. A few miles through the windy roads of the Peak district convinced me I'd made a massive mistake. A few more miles convinced me I was driving something really special. Even today I get a kick out of sitting behind that bizarre dashboard and enjoying the Citroen way of motoring.
Best of luck with the GTI search, are you a member of the Citroen Car Club? Perhaps they could help.
I'll post a current pic of the CX when I get a chance.

I don't remember where I heard this, but it has been said that if you drive a CX for 5 minutes you'll never want to drive one again, and if you drive one for 15 minutes you'll never want to drive something else anymore...

Just thought I'd let you know. Just logged on for the first time for a VERY long time and seen this Very pleased you posted this. I often do searches for it hoping it will pop up somewhere but it never does but I had noticed it is normally taxed. Good to hear it's in good safe hands and being used exactly as I did. Whilst I respect the choice of whoever owns it to keep it as they please I am very pleased to hear it is still very standard. The only significant mod was the electronic ignition which transformed it. There are lots of higher spec CXs out there but this one is very rare and it's originality was always part of the appeal. It's also a good model with the Douvrin engine but narrow front wheel arches. The way it keeps up with modern traffic is epic. I remember a trip on the M4 at 100mph for about an hour behind a new Bentley Continental. So so pleased to hear from you. I do hope you get this. Please stick with RR. They are a great bunch and if you can take it to the gathering, the interest in this car will amaze you considering the time and workmanship which goes on here. Epic car. I have owned many cars since and nothing comes close. I regret selling it so badly. Please...if you EVER sell it please please please contact me. However, you have stuck it out for more than the first five minutes so I doubt you will ever part with it Do you have any recent pics?

It's time to dust the cobwebs off this thread and open it up again. Yes, the CX is back!!! I always deeply regretted having to sell this, and I have missed it terribly since it was driven off my drive 4 years ago. Now, due to a happy set of circumstances I am once again the proud owner of "my" CX! It has been through a few owners since I last clapped eyes on it. The last owner has owned it for three years, used it a lot and spent time and money maintaining the structure and mechanicals. As a result it is remarkably good shape. The upper body has a few issues...it has been hit in the N/S/R quarter which is superficial and corrosion has reappeared in most of the same places. The body is in much the same condition as when I first bought it all those years ago so I know what I am dealing with. It is also remarkably complete and as I would like to see it. It has Jaguar XJS mirrors now which is a shame as I went to so much trouble to find a correct door mirror and to not have a passenger mirror which was as it would have been from new. CX mirrors are curse word, so from that point of view they are an improvement. I however like the period feel and to me they don't look right so this is something I will tackle. It has period fog lamps which I like so will keep. It will be nice to keep something on it from the last four years as the time I have not had it is part of the cars history now. It also has rear seat belts. Now they are in I will keep them. I will miss people getting in the back and complaining there are no belts but I guess these days they are a sensible addition. Other than that it is as I sold it with some nice ageing. I have been out in it a few times now and OH MY GOD...it is so awesome. Even though I know how good these cars are I still am flabergasted as to how capable they are. It drives beautifully. So, here are some new pics. I am absolutely over the moon to have this lovely thing back in my life. I am getting used to seeing it again. The overriding feeling is that it is like an old friend. Things may have changed but the close bond remains. I am sooo excited about this cars future!!!!! Just picked it up... ...and welcome back home!
