I can honestly say that this car really needs no introduction due to Mr Somerset being the previous owner and being honest it really isn't much different than when he owned it but I thought I would start a build thread of my own... The Datty as it stands today. After the edition of a stereo and centre console found in my dads garage and a period 8track player that pretty much is the things I have done so far. next plan is to tackle the front wings. I am no body repair guy however I will be trying to sort the passenger side myself, probably after reading hints and tips on here to prep such rot for repair. Johnny provided me with a spare new drivers wing so that will just need spraying and fitting. The only other rot I am concerned about it the drivers rear arch. Plan is to fill it for now but will be on the lookout for one in the meantime. The roof had serious paint fade and T-cut or Safe cut was not having any of it but my dad provided me with a metal polish (which name escapes me for now) that seems to have gotten rid of most of the fading for now, still think I will need to spray it at some point. Personally I can't wait for nicer weather so I can tackle the rot, having no garage what-so-ever is proving hard to get the motivation to brave the outside...But I need to get the Datsun started. I cant believe the ammount of attention this motor gives me. Mostly due to the loud exhaust but like most old cars they really make a difference to the people seeing them on the road...I have had more stares in 3 months of owning it than the 6 years of owning my Sera...mental Close plans are to fit these Which are sitting in my spare room for now, but when I get my teeth into the wings you can be sure I will be fitting them. Cheers for now Gav

No need to sort out that rust hole, just bolt the wing mirror on top of it! Job done!

Cheers for the comments guys.
Fell in love with this car as soon as I saw the for sale thread on here...From then needed to have it. Proving to be a good daily driver too..
The mirrors were a difficult choice. Typically I could have gone with bullet or door mounted ones but figured I am a JDM nut so went for something as close to.

Never seen one over here, guess they weren't sold here, but those 70s japanese cars have a cool, unique style.

OK Update time: been a while but most people on here will know the trials and tribulations of owning more than one car taking up alot of one's time Ratt was MOT'd recently at a garage I don't usually use, the only reason being is the fact that my usual place refused to do it as it was too low Studid I know but they said the engine subframe would foul the ramps. So went to place with pit and they pretty much bum raped me for stuff which wasn't too bad (or non existent) and put light to some things that needed doing. Above is the rear nearside arch and sill. Hopefully not too much of a problem for a jolly good (and well priced too if I can find one in the Lancashire area) welder to sort out. The worst of it is the end cap which has holes in it and a hole a bit further along. The sill strip isn't really in good shape at all so will probably have it all done. The dilema I have is this, do I have my bodyshop to repair the rear arch trim (to the best of their ability if I can't get a arch repair kit from Nisan) or do I do this I have always like the C110 GTR and love the trim it has round the arches. I know the 100a is no Skyline but it will probably be as close as I will ever get to one The arches are the JDM look ones some nice chap on here is selling, after measuring them they pretty much look like the fit right on, I am however concerned about drilling and screwing into perfectly good metal to put them on, or grinding metal to fit wider wheels/spacers to fill them out too What do you think guys and gals (also if anyone knows a well priced welder in lancashire, let me know) Ta
