washing machines contain a lot of non-metalic parts too and as most tips are not allowed to have mains electricity (council rules again) , taking any bits off involves hand tools
AND, the official council line: all washing machines and cookers remain the property of the council and MUST be sent for recycling, via the council
in other words, tip operators don't get paid anything for them, unless they can take off the motors etc by hand
this job is okay during the summer, but not fun during the cold wintery monthes
one other point i should raise: Brushing, another council / environmaent agency guideline, any area accessed by the public must be swept twice a day. Any claims for punctures or injuries whilst visiting the tip are the responsibility of the tip operator and not the council.
beginning to see the problems of running a council tip?
