Fire extinguisher pull fitted: Does the bonnet clear both when opened and shut?? Cracking on with it - I've been enjoying the progress The other thing I wodered about was if the harness bar was too low Good questions. Didn't think about with the switch and pull TBH, could be a skool boy error but they're in the same place as on the original car so hopefully no problem. The harness bar is fine as the buckets sit really low. My mate has the bar in the same place in his MKII and it's well within MSA regs for the angle and safety. Nick

Just a thought, if the bonnet does foul the switch and pull, just shorten the bonnet prop! I've had the bonnet open on my mk2 today and tbh looking at the angle the open bonnet sits at, I think you'l be fine.

I fitted one to the Monza and first time I lifted the bonnet with the engine running I sheared the key off and cracked the isolator body...... Ooops lesson learned - you can always fit a plastic packer under the switch body if it's a smidge high The harness bar is fine as the buckets sit really low. Cheers dude. I was hoping to get it done for the gathering but sadly it's just not going to happen.

Been very slack on the updates recently. Progress has been a tad slow due to me being on holiday and also after arrival of the MSA Yearbook it was clear to be sure of passing scrutineering that the cage would have to be fitted with different plates so I had to cut them all out and start again. Due to the above and some scheduling issues at Marcus's workshop it won't be being painted this coming week as was the plan. Hopefully however I can get the shell prep done and it can go in a week later than planned. Anyhoo have some pics: IMAG0092 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0093 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0095 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr Still needs more weld but getting there! Finished patching the drivers door (passenger door done a while a go): IMAG0098 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0099 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0112 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0111 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr Just needs a skim of filler and some tidying up to finish it off. The boot lid I got was indeed much less rusty than y old one. All now stripped down, lightened and de-rusted ready for paint: IMAG0108 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr IMAG0110 by Nicholas R Horne, on Flickr Nick

When I ground it all back it was horrid mess, Marcus cut, ground, welded and fabricated new seams. That rear strut bar is an abomination of technology.. Constricts movement of the shock absorber top pins, which are meant to be able to move. Why would you refit it? The bar you welded in should do what you actually want it to do (stop the shock towers from moving) just fine.
