Not this chit again.... Folks find different things interesting or boring (even stuff that appears on here), can't see what that has to do with anything.
Some of us hate sprouts.
Some of us prefer green to blue.
Some of us find 2CVs dull.
So what. Folks like different things, it's fair enough and normal. Each to his/her own.

Does seem double-stds in that it's OK to say bikes are dull but not OK to say a car is dull, but thats another thing.

This is a car forum, and that's it. Other stuff has a place to go which catches various mods/interests inc bikes which is fair enough.

Owned first car age 35. Bikes will always be first. But theres plenty bike forums about with far more specialised knowledge than in a forum that's about something else. I'm on bike forums which have car sections, and to be honest they're pretty dull, just baggage that doesn't help the forum do it's thang.

a proper section for bikes would be great. It might attract some people to the site who are proprly into retro-rides of the 2 wheeled persuasion a bit more sucsessfully then the 'other modifications section which is more about old tat.

getting some bike builders on here that build the cool old bikes we love would be good no? would make the standard of bikes on this site much better.

Good point Slater but I think that the Reader's Other Modifications section will do for now. Have you ever seen one of those sites made by someone who doesn't know much about the subject? I think we'll stick with our speciality. ;D

ive seemed to have rattled some peoples cages here, if you take time to read the comment i put earlier about dull cars it states they are still good, ive owned 2 allegros a 1000cc metro and a nissan bluebird and compaired with my other cars they were dull but still cars that have a soul, i was against the comment from dollywoble in general due to the fact that alot of car drivers hate motorcyclists and the fact that i had my bike stolen and months later found the engine in a gocart
I couldnt see that it would be difficult to have a section on motorcycles alone, its the same as people ranting on about porn on tv,theres a button on the control or key pad that you can push to watch it or not.
I have been driving cars and riding bikes for over 25 yrs and retro vehicles were new vehicles when i started so like many others i know what was good or bad then, i couldnt afford decent motors and had bikes as a daily form of transport.
The anoying thing is that this is the best forum for the vehicles we love but lets not be anti vehicle because that what causes problems, ive spent loads on my jag because i love driving it and it cost me a marrage (not a bad thing in the end) but its only worth £700 in the book and when i took it along to the jaguar owners meetings they wouldnt talk to me because it was old and modified,
I'm sorry if you took my coments the wrong way but i hate negative comments and prejudice against other peoples vehicles.
Would we be slagging off new cars in twenty years time when they become retros and if the theifs in power doent get them scrapped first

Why don't we have, a retro cooking section? You know, swap offal recipes and that and grumble about teflon pans. This is retro-rides after all so it would fit right in I reckon. So what if theres several other well-established retro cookery forums out there already? It defo makes sense to stick a half-arsed extra bit on that only 10% of the members will ever bother looking at.

This is an amusing read.. I can't help but think that even an entire bike section wouldn't help get my Velocette LE project off the ground, that would be more of a resurrection.
