Hello all. What are your ponderings on a retro bike section? We all love our retro rides on 4 wheels but what about the retro's on two? It seems there are a lot of us on here that have a bike or two or have had in the past and they are a largely overlooked topic. It would be the same rules as the cars - got to be decidedly retro. So, what are your thoughts so the moderators can have some feedback from the people - good or bad - it's all welcome. I'll start off with my own 1976 Z400 twin which I was lucky enough to get hold of a couple days ago. It looks very clean and I am well chuffed with it, but there are a couple of things which need to be done. It is 32 years old after all!! Needs a couple carb service kits, speedo cable, tacho cable. Ideally it needs some new fenders front and back or re-chroming (chromes a bit dull) OHC badges on the side pannels and a better colour match on the side pannels. Anyway. What are your thoughts? cast your vote!

Basically if you want to talk about bikes, you can put them into the 'readers other modifications' section, which has often got bikes in

Because to many of us car fans, bikes = dullness. Unless you're nicking the engine out of one to power a Reliant... ;D

Because to many of us car fans, bikes = dullness. Unless you're nicking the engine out of one to power a Reliant... ;D I've always put cars before bikes and nothing will take away my love of retro cars. I absolutely love my viva and it gets the large slice of my attention/money pie but since having a bike (the only way to get around in London) I can really see what all the fuss is about. There is also a serious lack of retro bike forums and especially ones as good as this site. I want to let the moderators know as well that I really don't want to step on any toes with this thread so feel free to PM me. Bikes do rock as well, and not everyone riding them is the idiot that keeps cutting you up at the roundabout Also this is in no way supposed to be a car vs bike scenario- I really want to avoid that road at all costs!

If it doesn't include the strange biker camaraderie which I think is at a tangent to car drivers, then yes!

how can dollywobler say that bikes=dullness when he has a 2CV6,metro and rover 2000,good cars but the sort of cars that my nan drives, its the thoughts of narrow minded people like this that give the powers to be the excuse to scrap older vehicles and try to make motorbikes banned,if its a classic or retro 2 or 4 wheels does it realy matter, we all try to have cheap fun motoring and i don't agree to the views of some people when they have an anti bike attitude

And RR will NEVER be about bad attitudes, or bad-mouthing other members.

I love these types of bikes: It's just that all the new ones look identical, and comes complete with a rider who has to blip the throttle at red lights and then zips off to 80 mph.

This is a car forum, that's that. I love bikes way more than cars (passed my full bike test aged 17 and 9 days - didn't bother with cars until I was 22 , which is why I'm a member of various bike forums as well as this one - if someone wants to do a thread on bikes, there is the 'other mods' section for that, and so long as it doesn't become overrun with bikes, I suspect it'll stay that way.

Oh goody, bad feeling.
Bikes fit in other modifications. Theres plenty on there, and everyone knows to look there if they want to read about old bikes.
I don't think anyone wanted to start a fight here, so really people need to stop whining at each other, post some pictures of cars and bikes... maybe even old bikes on trailers being towed by old cars.
ANYWAY what i'm tryin to say is: Enjoy the ride, this forum ain't about belonging to a clique... VW to Ford, GM to Chevy, even Car to Bike. Share the love. If you wanna slag off bike owners, this ain't the place for it. If you wanna slag off 2CV owners, this REALLY ain't the place for it. Just chill out and enjoy yourselves.

Vivaboy, there is a bike section...it's called Reader's Other Modifications. how can dollywobler say that bikes=dullness when he has a 2CV6,metro and rover 2000,good cars but the sort of cars that my nan drives, its the thoughts of narrow minded people like this that give the powers to be the excuse to scrap older vehicles and try to make motorbikes banned,if its a classic or retro 2 or 4 wheels does it realy matter, we all try to have cheap fun motoring and I don't agree to the views of some people when they have an anti bike attitude That's just insane. You drive a 'nan-like' Metro, a 2CV and a Rover so it's people like you who give the powers that be the excuse to scrap older vehicles. By 'people like him' do you mean someone who writes for a magazine that wrote the most useful anti-scrap scheme article I've seen to date? Someone who drives three cars that are probably worth more scrapped via the new scheme, but still chooses to use them instead. I don't like football, maybe it's people like me that are responsible for the second world war? Victhejag, you've just won the offensive and inaccurate post of the week, congratulations. ;D ;D
