Thinking outside the box...

Ok all I'm looking for more outside the box ideas..
Basically I've aquired a turbo engine for the 240. Turns out the loom is incomplete and I'm having a serious mare tracking down any bits for it.
So have started thinking outside the box, anyone come up with some alternative ways of running the engine.
I have currently a complete B230et (turbo) engine and ancillarys but no loom/ecu for the electronic injection.
I also have a running and fitted B230f engine on K-Jet
I have a 'little' bit of spare cash for parts hunting etc.
My first thought was to use the K-Jet like the older turbo saabs, and i've started another thread for the discussion on this,
the other obvious choice is Megasquirt but chances are its a little out of my reach once I add the system cost to replacing the sensors etc.
So any other ideas appreciated. Am not entirely adverse to a completely different route but not sure i'd be able to shift the engine on again to recoup my cash.

if the fuel injection is the issue could you run it on carbs?

I used to have a XR4x4 which was converted by TurboTechnics - This was K Jetronic and the conversion was quite simple.

It had the following fuel modifications which are rumored to be available from Saabs.

Different profile block on the metering head flap (changes fuelling map)
Vacuum retard distributor (Backs off ignition as boost increases)
Different Warm Up Regulator

Thing is though, I don't think you can just use the K-Jet loom on the Motronic engine as most of the sensors and injectors will be different. You'd have to put the turbo stuff onto the K-Jet engine and then there's the issue of the engine being higher compression (you could get round this with less boost though).

Lol am doing some megasquirt inquirys at the minute... Only has two issues that I see, one being the cost of the system itself as well as all the sensors (volvo ones are not compatable apparently) secondly despite the engine being sold as good.. its untested by me.. testing the engine and a self built MS unit at the same time is probably dumb.
As for carbs.. the original plan for my K-Jet engine was bike carbs.. then the turbo engine came up at a price I could afford. So I'm not adverse to carbs but anyone suggest any that work with the turbo engine running maybe 14-15psi.. (200-220hp)

What about bike carbs with turbo? I know that you can blow through a lot of them with very little modification just need a pressure reference from the plenum inlet! Then I gess it would be just a case of re jetting them for the car. This web site shows how to set up suzuki carbs for blow thru www.turbo-bike.com

Cool cheers.. I may be getting a cheap ish MS setup just need to work out a few niggles but the bike carb set up looks very tempting, I'm off to research.
