Picked up our 'new' car today. It was originally my Grandfathers, who had it for yonks, them my mum had it, added a few miles, a few running problems and a few dents, then my brother got his hands on it and it went badly downhill from there. Still, I can't complain. Free car. Its worth nothing, but it has 6 months tax and a years test. So.. Here are some photos for you to lol at! Got a nice retro themed idea in my head though. yum. Dents are fun. Bad wheelarch repair job.. Thats mercedes silver don't you know! Hmmm.. Ok.. Oh god.. What?! Wheeltrims? In the boot Best bit of the car No rubber at all on the wipers. Not just split off, no rubber at all. They are more than 7 years old.. Awesome sticker. That stays I think. Less awesome sticker.. Numberplate held on with sellotape.. Now.. sillyness.. Why should Fiat Panda's have all the 4X4 fun.. Rich

Ok, some updates. Not a lot though. Got it running sweet as a nut today with a throttle body off a 1.6. Bore is bigger, but the bore inside the manifold is the same, just the rubber mount has a smaller hole in it. So at some point that will be sorted out. Drives much better now, no more lumpy idle, dying at traffic lights and curse word cold starts. I suspect it was the idle stepper playing up but I just bunged the whole throtle body on Also dropped the front suspension on some softer Mk2 breadvan coils, lost one coil out of the springs so.. lower with the same ride. Result. Just the back to do now then bung a Mk3 Golf front spoiler on. Then the bullet mirrors.. Rich

the oe polo hubcaps are horrible, if need be leave the rims black and get some trim rings on, oh and "accidentally" cut a few more coils out.........

Weeeell. Fun was had by all today. I think. I finished lowering the car, which you can't tell from these photos anyway.. lol I also repaired the back bumper so it sits better, and put a MK3 Golf front spoiler on, much like my last polo. Looks angry. But while it was up in the air, I spotted something I very muchly didn't like the look of- A wet petrol tank. A wet with petrol petrol tank. No prizes for guessing where the leak was.. Side of the tank.. Filler neck.. And all the mush and rust left behind. Great. New tank time!! At least I found this, the cleanest bit of the car! Aaaand that it isn't even a Genisis! Its a Fox!! The sticker in the boot told me Rich

Looks like a genesis to me. Green Tints, Sunroof, Genesis interior trim. So we all thought. But the boot sticker has Polo Fox on it, and it didn't come from the dealer with a radio, glovebox, or fag lighter. Odd. I figure somewhere its got cocked up, or the Genesis was built up on a C spec body? The thing was an ex demo from VW so who knows what it is. Well, I know one thing it is, its not moving for a while Rich

Chances are it didn't have enough fuel in it to leak at test time. I could get a tenner's worth in mine with the rotten neck... I then spent 4 weeks trying to find a decent used replacement before having to bite the bullet and stump up for a new one. That car looks like a minter compared to mine, which is a hateful little green pile of %&!?*...
