I've got hold for a pair of 185/50 R16's to put on my Wellers. But I've just had a thought. The wheels are stamped..... 7kX16" I know there are different bead seat, and most production wheels have a J bead seat/flange. Is this going to make tyre fitting a problem? The pic below highlights the bit I'm talking about........ Please help, Robin

Blimey, I've only ever seen J-stamped wheels... so what kind of tyres are supposed to go on K bead seat wheels?!

Blimey! 7K wheels, eh? Good luck with that, I think it might be good to ring up a tyre shop and ask them about it. Presumably you were going to get them professionally fitted anyway, so if the tyre shop isn't happy fitting J tyres to a K bead seat they would let you know.

so what kind of tyres are supposed to go on K bead seat wheels?! When I originally brought the wheels they came with a pair of partworn Dunlop SP9000's which didn't seem to be anything odd or special about them. The wheels also came with inner tubes, which I assumed were used because the inside of the wheel was rusty and the tyre wasn't sealing against the bead seat. (obviously I've removed the rust and painted the wheel, leaving a smooth serface.) Now I'm wondering if inner tubes were used because the common J tyres weren't seating against the K bead seat! I hopefully will pick the tyres up wednesday and get them fitted friday. I get my mate at Kwik Fit to uses bead sealer too. FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!

nice one that you got it sorted. did you use tubes again then? the rims look great on, but as pointed out in your other thread about the wheel colour, lose some of the red.
