Hi guys!
As I'm not very experienced in the ways of old British metal, I thought I would ask for some advice from the experts. My dad's family live in Perth, Western Australia and have a Wolseley 4/44 which has been standing in the same place for at least a decade. This car has been in the family forever, and last underwent a restoration when my dad was young, back in the 1970s. Apparently it was painted red by hand with a brush!
Anyway, dad asked me half-seriously if I would be interested in looking at it and perhaps seeing if it could be fixed up to run again, for old time's sake. He's over in Perth this week, so I suggested that if he wants to, he should check it over to see how much of the body has rusted out. Hopefully dry storage in Perth should see it looking much more solid than most of the cars I see on this site! My question is, apart from rusted panels, what is likely to have gone wrong with this car over the years? I'm imagining that it would need a new battery, fuel lines, fuel, plug leads, oil and a good service and clean-up at the very minimum. Is there anything specific to watch out for? If the car does turn out to be savable and I do get there in my holidays, I will be sure to post up an extensive pic thread of such a RR-style oddyssey!
As always, some pictures as payment:
