Model: series 2a(?) Land Rover / Range Rover Hybrid – 3.9 V8
Year: ’68(ish)
Mileage: ??
Tax: exempt
MOT: none
This is the classic ‘one project too far’ and on reflection I don’t really think off-roading is for me.
It’s now taking up much needed driveway space & at the same time preventing me from digging up the front garden so I can fit more cars on it..
Hasn’t been used for absolutely ages – I used to start it regularly but haven’t done for a while after I stupidly left it in gear even though I already knew the clutch needed sorting (d’oh!)
Anyway, quick desc...
Tax exempt Landy chassis (cool no. plate), Defender front end, pick-up bed (with tank & lock box), 2 seat truck cab (removable with fold-down screen) drop-down tailgate, tow bracket with drop plates (will tow literally anything) I think I’ve got a frame & canvas top for it somewhere I could chuck in
3.9l RV8 on twin SU carbs – engine always ran sweet as; has enough torque to pull this over anything (was sold to me as a 3.9 but looks exactly the same as the 3.5 RV8 I just finished building for something else – not sure if that’s just cos they look the same..?)
4-spd manual & hi/lo range transfer box (needs selector lever – pee easy job)
BIG chassis lift (axels under leaf-springs) for a ride up in the trees; plenty of ground clearance
BIG wheels (Wellers?) & BIG rubber – spare set of full off-road wheels/tyres available by negotiation
Power steering
Disk brakes all round
Hand-painted matt Army green (flaking in places but I’ve got half a tin left
Probably loads of stuff I’ve forgotten – ask if you have any questions or want specific pics
To be sorted:
Clutch has stopped working while it’s been laid up over winter. Best case it’ll just need fluid (it’s hydraulic) or freeing off. Worst case new clutch but they’re cheap as chips & you don’t even need to jack it up to get at it
Interior / dash switches could be tidier but everything worked – it’s a Landy at the end of the day; not supposed to be pretty
Paint needs re-doing in a few places but as above, it’s a Landy
Someone stole the valve-caps (ffs)
Pics:
How does £850 sound? Owes me a fair bit more than that but we’ve ruined the world since then...
Viewing available pretty much any time (I’m in Brighton)
It would need trailering away and I’m afraid I have no facilities with which to deliver
Am happy to provide a phone number via PM if preferred ;D
