good to see you have the guts to cut it! Lets see it finished now - and soon! I was hoping this wouldn;t be an Al Cablown "clone" but it looks like you are putting enough of your own touches into it so it will be something of itself.
I also hope its my eyes or your camera but is your rear window now off centre?

I also hope its my eyes or your camera but is your rear window now off centre? It must be tha camera angle, as the rear window frame wasn't cut off the rear of the car.

rear window is still very centre, I'm just not so good with a camera. as Cloin said, it never got removed from the car just bowed in and the roof cut to suit the orignal size window.
I think the way this is heading it will be able to stand on it's own and not viewed as a 'clone' yes I've used his as insperation but I've found my own vision to achieve.
Engine is still up for debate.

Making it stand out will be in the smaller details, even if you paint yours black. So many things you can do to make this car not be an Al Caclone (hah, I made a funneh) so I'll be watching with interest to see how it develops.

Excellent build and very cool car, props to you for being brave enough to cut it IMHO it's got to have a V8, anything else just wouldn't seem right (I am a bit biased though, I'd put v8's in everything given the chance including household appliances) Bookmarked

IMHO it's got to have a V8, anything else just wouldn't seem right How about a Daimler badged Jag V12? The Double Six moniker used on the Daimler badged XJ12s has it's origins back in thw '20 / '30s. Another option that would keep things 'in the family', would be the 4.5 hemi from a Majestic Major.

Welding and more welding. I think I've spent 25days welding! So update, yes. Pics no I've been welding the rear of the roof up, and inserting the new metal across the roof gap. it's nearly done! unfortunatly the roof has warped a bit in places but some work with the dolly hammer and a little bit of filler (Trying to keep theat to a minimal) should see it looking right again. (Supplies to be purchased) I've also removed the gutter and re-fitted the seats for the moment to get a feeling of height. It's close and I'm short, so tall guy's may make contact with the roof lining, but I'll be driving so who cares. further more, Dez has quoted me for the disc conversion (Which I'll be purchasing as soon as moeny is raised) and PhonexEscort should be on his way to the UK soon so I can get me engine. keeping it stock so a 6cyl is going in, but not quite what came out! So plan now is (Photos first and loaded in the morning sorry people) quick tidy up of the garage, check the rear glass still fits finish the roof up and look into the rear vallance while waiting for November and the engine to arrive.

Well photos as promised, if 24hours late. Resting in it’s home. Complete with chrome frame re-installed to front window so I can start the glass template soon. The new metal let into the roof And the resultant of the above with a quick bit of filler / paint thrown at it to save rust issues. Across the roof has been the hardest part, metal warping and small fires thankfully the rear the the roof went together and looked pretty good And yes the rear glass fit's snug as a bug. head height is ok inside and even the rear door glass will be of use. Wohoo!

Looks like the roof insert could end up giving you a bit of a headache, but the proportions look good and I like the red, even if it is just a quick blast. Front end looks pretty imposing too, should look immense when you get to the point you can start with the lowering and such.
