hey guys good to meet afew of you at the weekend (cant remember names) anyway was the first retro style show ive been to and loved it, loved all the different styles and crazyness of the cars so cheers guys ;D anyway to the point, on the way back 10 mile from home on the m1 by derby I passed a traffic cop... behind me he went lights blareing so I pulled up just of the m1, show goers probibly saw my highly unvisable front numberplate (darksmoke window tint) and my missing high beam headlamp (come induction pipe) anyway over my car they went... what they found battery not secured front numberplate tinted missing highbeam headlamp sidelamps not working on one side indercator not working on front foglamp bulb out tyre just past the limit ( due to all the fun on the way to the show) basicly around 9 pionts and 300 odd quid fine luckyly the copper was a owner of a mk1 ford cortina lotus I ended up chatting for half a hour about old school cars and how he was gutted he'd missed the show he didnt impose a fine or pionts just gave me a rectiforcation form and vioded my mot (meaning ive gotto get it re mot'd so all hands on deck to try and sort it for gathering 09!

How lucky were you! The plate should have got you a fine because it's pretty stupid IMO. You might as well just not have one, it wouldn't look as odd either.
Shouldn't need much for the MOT if it's just those bits and bobs?
Nice looking Beemer though, is that Urban Green? Great colour.

nice car... plate don't suprise me either... (plus it looks she-ite) how did you not know the indicator was gone? it flashes faster when its knackered... and why not take the other main beam out too and double filiment the outer two? and fix the battery down? could of been avoided

Lucky's not the word for it! On a side point, battery insecure is not an MOT issue anymore but still pretty basic stuff that should be right if you're into cars

Begs the question - why draw attention to yourself by running obviously illegal number plates when it could potentially cause so much grief? Just doesn't make sense to me. But then, I'm a Fogey

Lucky's not the word for it! On a side point, battery insecure is not an MOT issue anymore but still pretty basic stuff that should be right if you're into cars It still falls under construction & use though, so a policeman has every right to pick you up on it....and book you for it if he feels the need Dude, you got a whole heap of luck on your side to get away with that lot. Fair play.....I'm glad you didn't get the hardback lobbed at you, but just make sure the car is pretty up together for future (sounds obvious, but a modded car is always an open invite for the Police to give you some extra attention ) Hope you get it sorted and rolling again ASAP.

LoL I spent the whole of the M1 and the A1 praying not to get any unwanted attention. I found 5 notifiable defects while at the pod Good luck getting it sorted! and a tip.. put dual filaments in the outside, remove the wiring from the remaining main beam lamp. sorted.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

That is lucky - I'll join in and condemn the front plate - you're asking for a pull (I'm ex police so would take it as an easy route to a number on the scorecard) Once in for that easy one - you really need to stay on top of the rest or they'll have a field day..... At least none of it will take more than a few minutes work I'll also admit - we've all done something just as obvious so don't think we're any better ;D EDIT ** EXCELLENT RIDE THO!

well it gives you something to do before the gathering ;D agree with the plate comments though . that said i was running us plates on the van last year that could have got some very unwanted attention luckily for me the supercharger hanging out the bonnet of my other estate took the attention off the van ;D ;D

I'm glad you didnt get a fine but you are absolutely asking to get busted with that plate, plus it looks ridiculous. is the back one smoked as well?

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

jeez id have been sans license if that was me! lucky man! I'm going the other way on the number plate-i quite like it! ive ran illegal fonts and pre 73 black/silvers on lots of my cars-left the originals in the boot so if i got a tug id use the "been to a show and lost my screwdriver" excuse-worked many times for me-even at 5pm on a wednesday! as for the headlight thing twin filaments and disconnection seems the way forward or even a dummy intake on the other side...or a peice of chopped up grill over the hole... nice motor-i really fancy another E30 now
|
|
I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!
