Bonjour, thought I should do this as I've been milling around for some time. Bought this car about 5 years ago from a guy I worked with, put it in the garage and didn't get very far till I moved, changed job, moved, moved, got married, changed job, and bought a house. so here I am. when I got it most welding was done but everything that goes in it was in a pile! sills, inner wings, rear quarters all done, and a new pair of wings and new doors too! I started by blasting the engine bay and painting with POR 15, then did the same behind the dash and did the floors. it then got tucked away until about 4 weeks ago. so far I've painted the inner wings, inside of the outer wings, new splash panels and seals etc. time for some pics! new and shiny: Wing fitted up and trim gaps filled: due to space I had to move it over to get to the other side! And tucked back in: so then I did the same Bolted it back up tonight, with the new splash in place. Also wire brushed my prop, looks like it just needs one new UJ - Result, also stripped the dash and cleaned up the cross member for the g/box - its all good! Got a new front valence to offer up at the weekend, then I'll spin it round to do the boot floor and rear valence. Mo-JO on the go now, I need to try and spray it before winter sets in.......(ive said that 4 years running now)

Glad I could help Monty! There is one last bolt at the bottom you cant see, the panel folds under at about 60 deg, this is probably blocked when the wing is fitted. Yours looks great BTW.
I am pretty determined to do it this time but all of this is new to me so its a steep learning curve. I've messed with cars a bit but mainly just keeping things ticking over rather than scratch build!
When I moved it at the weekend it was the first time it had seen the sun since I got it! and its been off the road since the early 90's!

bit miffed today.... went to fit front valence. first of all the threads in the captive nuts were junk so I ran a tap through but they appear to be made from cheese.....no worries i said, i'll drill 'em and use longer bolts with nylocs or something.... offered up the steelcraft valence and its a worse fit than a cheap suit. spent a bit of time lining the bonnet up to line the wings up etc. it doesn tfit around the chassis rails properly so i had a change of plan. took these edges: cut the corners and folded them decided I'm going to space the panel out from the body so it sits flush with the front wings as it wraps round as I won' t be refitting the bumper. will patch the gaps for the chassis legs once i get some steel and dollys to sort the whole panel. Apologies for the dull update and phone pics.....I really spent most of the time today lining things up and scratching my head!

I see what you mean the fit is a little off! I've head they're all a bit poor. Was considering the sebring front one for mine but heard they're a pig so put me off for now!

Steel Craft are buggers for this, Ashley Hinton Panels are usually made better but I am unsure if he does the front valence.
Monty, they are eaiser to fit than the steel ones providing youtake your time, I did not even have to shave my old one at all.

I think a sebring one may have been easier than what I'm doing, but hey, thats half the fun! and I can hit this with a hammer without smashing it to smitherines!
small update but phone pics suck so ill wait till I'm further along:
after playing with panel gaps on the bonnet and wings, I made some spacers up from steel tube to sit behind the valence now so it sits flush with the wings.
also got some hammers and dollys to start learning to panel beat! flattened out the cut outs and the ridges on each side to match up with the wheel arches, just a little finshing needed there.
just got to trim up the top edge and weld up holes and spacers now...coming along nicely.

another small update - again pics will follow when it looks like iv'e done something! Did my first bit of welding yesterday - have now patched the gaps in the valence in front of the chassis legs and put some of the spacers on. lots of grinding and redoing and a couple of little holes blown but i managed to fill them up with mig just a little beating and a skin of filler then I've got to trim up the corners where they meet the wings.

alright, got a couple of hours in on the wagon today. spacers finished on the front end just, needs the filler sanding back, and a little beating in the creases to help bring the corners up into line. also got the flap wheel on the grinder and started to strip the boot floor. its all solid, just a bit of surface rust to treat. Next weekend will bring more stripping of the boot....woot.

You will find that a clean and strip disc on a drill will make it much easier to strip the paint in the boot

alright chaps. did some work today getting the rear end ready for the new valence. The crud catcher on the back was crusty and all bent about like this: so I cut the bottom bit off: then welded the old bumper mount holes, etched, primed and sealed: did a bit of general tinkering and tidying and got the car nose in to the garage so I can continue with the rear end over the next couple of weekends.

another day, another step. following yesterdays cutting, i cleaned up the corners and tapered the cut down into the rear quarters, welded the last couple of holes and sealed and primed: Then got a couple of coats of hammerite on it. filled some of the seams on the back, and on top of the rear wings to get a nice clean look when its done, and cleaned up the boot shut too.

okay, so weekend went by I started mocking up my rear valence i think i'm not going to blend it in as the corners do not any ewhere near match the rear quarters and at this stage I can't see how to reshape it...more thought required. SO I decided to do some prep work on my doors and bootlid....feathered some chips and scratches, filler primed, and keyed up for paint.... and then today the posty called I beleive the internet phrase is ZZZOMGGGG! or something similar. I love deliveries!
