get the amplifier module thingy from a sierra/granada/BMW etc that lets you use the heated rear screen element as an FM ariel. Totally hidden, job sorted. (I did a thread once on fitting one... dashed if I can find it now though )

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Or you can get a tax disc holder aerial, a screen aerial ( which mounts inside the top of your dashboard ) or a bumper aerial that goes behind the bumper!

hmm behind the bumper sounds like a trick...although they're metal so i dunno if that would block the signal?
rear screen sounds intresting , although mines the old fashioned headliiner so i don't fancy dropping that ..
keep the sugestions coming cheers

Some '70's Mitsubishi isolated their bootlids with plastic washers at all mountings so they wouldn't be grounded to the body & used them as an aerial...
Heard of similar use for convertible roof bows?

sierra system has a live to power the amp, a pass through for the heated rear screen (in and out) and a long coax cable that goes right through the car to the front. Cable has a sattelite dish type screw on connector at the amp end, and a standard ariel to radio prong at the other Still can't find the "how to" thread... did find one of the pictures though Here's the unit in question tagged to the tailgate of my chevanne.

Yep,
I had that ^^^ but the thin wire elements got buggered so now it's using normal electrical cable instead - works but not as well as the proper ones.

Yeah, the 'invisible' elements do look rather fragile.

I'm using this. Seems to work well. I have a similar dilema with the 'E as having welded bodged aerial holes up I don't want to drill a new one , and the Sierra amplifier option is out as there's no heated screen. I shall bear that in mind

Do internal ariels actually work though? In my experience, radio reception inside a car is pretty poor - all steel shell and all that :-)

I've got my original aerial in my Golf fully extended in the inner wing. Seems to work well enough - picks up my iTrip anyway. ;D
