Its a tough niche to fill, being so close to Gassers/Altereds/Street Machines. There is a Oddball Gassers, Altereds and Streetfreaks thread on the HAMB but its a bit scarce on the Streetfreaks. www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324126&highlight=street+freakOur Street Machine magazine down here was chock full of these cars right up through the 80s, might have to fire up the scanner.

there you go, a chin spoiler and fender flares on a '57 Chevy, who'd have thought that would work? What do you mean "it doesn't" LOL. I love that. You'd need balls to build it now though!
yeah, some one my pics are more street machine than street freak but hey, I'm trying to warm up a vibe here.
some great ones in that HAMB thread. If they are starting to warm to this stuff I might have to get over there more.

I'm feelin' it! I'm still learning what the different types of car are, after reading about Gassers a while back and opening up a pandoras box of all manner of different classes and styles which I had previously just chucked in the box in my head marked "Gassers".

Looks like my memory is not as good as I thought. My Street Machine collection is only offering up the disparate elements of Street Freaks, I can find the stance, the graphics and the blowers, just not all on the one car. I'll just leave this here and start my own thread in a bit.

I remember a mk1 capri in this style doing the shows 15-20 years ago. A yellow one, jacked up with chromed jag irs, huge slots etc etc proper show car. But still powered by a ford crossflow

Many moons ago, probably mid-80's I saw a film that I swear was called "The Avenger". The star was a bit like a one-man A-Team, he came along, fixed someone problems, and went away. He drove a "Street Freak" style Corvette or Camaro, with extra wide wings, spoilers, ground effect, bright paint job. It was 'similar' to the Corvette in the opening titles of 'Class of Nuke'Em high'... I can't find reference to it anywhere, but one memorable scene is where he pulls up alongside the 'bad guys' car (poss another Corvette, in black), winds down the window and rips of his wing mirror, before roaring off and the bad guys giving chase. IMDB, IMCDB and Google are having none of it, though.

I remember that film.
Was that the one where a gang of youths in the desert just out side LA force innocent motorists to road race for pink slips? They kidnap some guy's girlfriend and he comes to avenge her by racing them to death. Or was that some other pseudo-mad-max cack I watched too often as a kid. I swear my local video rental shop (remember them?) had an Akku shelf - Killdozer, Jesus Trip, Vanishing Point, Mad Max, etc. LOL.

Gets my vote. I have a bunch of late 80's mags that had a massive effect on me, would love to apply to the car if funds come up.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Which was on BBC1 earlier this evening. "Brilliant" film

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

The exceptions being the Anglia and the white yank parked up in the gateway.

"The Wraith" - could be, typical for me to have missed it. Same people who were in Class of 1984 - or so it seemed at the time LOL.

just looked on imdb and no, its not that film. The one I'm thinking of was far lower budget, probably Troma or one of those companies.
