Fast cars, bikes and fish & chips in Brighton

Back from a great weekend by the seaside with SWMBO, Speed Trials, Bikes and some shopping, made a nice break from the usual VW shows in the Camper

Hit the road early in the Golf for a speedy cruise, parked up above Madeira Drive (£9/day was a bargain)


wandered down and paid our £10 to get paddock access and noshed on a sausage and bacon roll to the sound of the bikes being tuned up


Before starting the long walk down the lines of cars and bikes competing, there was everything from standard supercars to full on race prepped motors.

After reaching the start line and finding the view blocked by a crowd 5 deep we turned round


And went up in the world, it was packed

From the upper level we got a great view of the start line and the tyre warming antics

A good book and a seat in the shade and the promise of much shopping later kept SWMBO smiling

We broke off for lunch to the food festival in the park nearby, getting back in time for another walk round including Kims favourite

All raced out by mid afternoon and getting very hot in the blazing sun we aimed for the pier and a cold one whilst these chaps hooned round


We found our hotel nearby and dropped the bags before an evening on the town...well dinner and a few drinks


Then back to bed as the sun set


Early sunday morning I had to venture out to move the car as the parking ran out, wandering along there seemed to be a lot of bikers out so after a hearty breakfast we went abck to the seafront and found several thousand bikes lining up for another show so had a looksie

All biked out now we hit The Lanes for some shopping, SWMBOs treat for putting up with a mammoth year of shows and racing, I'll save you the photos of countless clothes shops and antiques markets but you can have a bit of Brighton graffiti which was cool, some would make ideal backdrops for a photoshoot with a retro

Cool pics, love the prewar stuff and the Corona!
I only went to Brighton once when I was 8 or thereabouts, but I can still smell the tarmac boulevard after rain, and feel the hot beach pebbles under my feet... nice place.

Popped into Brighton yesterday for lunch and shopping on way home from weekend in Hastings.

So many bikes, it was ace. Driving home I was in a cavalcade of bikes,....I felt like a visiting dignitory ;D
