Well I'm on a windscreen hunt for the Qwertina. I think I've found one but its 155 miles away. We're gunna go and collect it in my mates L200, but we're kinda scared about transporting it. Plan was to have it standing up wrapped in duvets and attatched to the side mounting points...... Any input will be most appreciated. Have some pics.

i took the front and rear screens from a merc 114 down to notts for the Bboy. wedged them both in the back of the old 124 saloon. one hundred and fifty miles later they were both still in one peice.

Mk4 or 5? Mk4 is toughened and will take a fair whack to shatter it Mk5 are laminated and like an egg in comparrison, whenever i used to transport em on the back of me recovery i straped em to a matress or lump of foam i kept for the purpose then propped the ends up to match the screen curve, made it Derby from London with one no problems don't do the ratchet straps too tight ! just enough to stop it sliding about, those cheap crappy roof racks ones do nicely

The edges have to be protected, get a load of bubblewrap, cover everything. how much room is there at the back of the seat

i normally just chuck windscreens on the back seat of whatever i'm driving and never broken one yet, in a pickup truck i'd wrap it up in a blanket, just avoid bending a laminated screen and it should be fine, glass is pretty strong (stronger than steel in fact) if you don't suprise it.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

i put that foam pipe lagging stuff roudn the edges . its the edge that is the weakpoint. Never rest windscreens on the floor , especially on an edge / corner, all that weight in one spot , and its a gonner.
sent screens by courier before, they sometimes make it, sometimes don't.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

it's not..... (I have checked it against a mk3 saloon) is it taller or shorter if its taller then its a mk5 saloon screen i have a part numbers list somewhere i'll dig it out but all mk3,4 had the same part number on the base model (no tint) screens

its 1" shorter than a mk5 saloon screen, and is toughened. taller than a mk 3 screen. I'll get you the triplex number tomorrow, cos that's all I know for now.

my mistake the book I have only lists the screen rubbers but there are a few changes in there the mk5 saloon front screen is taller than the mk4 saloon the mk5 estate also has a different rubber than the mk4 estate so I'm guessing the screen is different if yours is taller then would imagine you have a mk5 estate one the mk3 and 4 saloon and estates all list the same screen rubbers so it must be the mk5 estate is also different either way its not gonna fit either of mine jolly pain in the backside but cheer's anyway ;D
